fellow lifestyle changers,

It is 6:00 on a saturday. I am sitting here with my morning coffee and the birds aren't even awake yet... Heartrate 65 BMP. Getting ready to cycle my first 100 km. Im a little nervous although that is silly since in did all the right preparations, cycled an 88 already and had enough breath to spare on that day...
But 100 is a magic number. Maybe i should set my tracker to miles then it is not such a round number but just another training of 62 miles.

Why am i doing this? you might wonder. Well i am trying to figure that out myself. I think it is the fact that to maintain this weight i can only eat 1500 kcal each day. To lose weight i must go below that, and that means i do not have a lottle wiggleroom. So if i sport exessively i can eat more.

But is it just the eating? i do like the fact that i am in a pretty good shape, i can run for an hour at 8km/h, hold up weights of about 50 kilo, cycle 88 km, starting to get that swimstroke under controle, and i am not last in every gym-class anymore.

It is hard work, and that is an understatement! I still do not enjoy individual work-outs, and have to drag my ass to each and every one of them. I still dont get that happy-gene everybody keeps telling me about afterward. Pride, sure! but not the feeling they describe when they do just one work-out.

Anyway. 6:23 now. I got to go make myself proud again. I am going to be my own hero again. In my head i'll be training like a pro for the tour the france (*yes as a 43 year old woman, i have a vivid imagination*)

so see you all on the other side!

love maud.

motto of the day:
NO SELF PITTY!!!!

You misunderstand, my friend. You don't need a reason to do something to make it legitimate. You only need the desire. Why am I preparing to climb a real rock wall by climbing indoors? Because I want to climb a rock wall. Maybe it's for no good reason, or maybe it's to prove something to myself. Pound them pedals, Maud!

I will repeat this training next time when it is a sunny day, and i know the route now so i wont be making wrong turns... thanks for reminding NorthernM. you are so true, its all in the mind! BTW, 40 is the perfect age to start namramn1, just remember 80% diet 20% sports!

Good on you. I'm 48 and would probably have a stroke if I tried that much.

Great job, rain makes it even more raw, eh? We're packing for a cross country trip to a practice retreat (Shambhala), hoping to keep our exercise going while traveling & meditating!!! You're a role model for sure!

Age isn't all that important...I know a few guys in their late 50's that do a century ride every year. MAUD - you are amazing! Wonderful accomplishment. Love that you are your own hero!!

The "happy-gene" feeling is much more easily attained in team sports. I've done both singular and group (activities) for years, and 'singularly' I've never had the happy-feeling then. There's something about teaming to win that causes more dopamine to be exhibited at the end ... but, that being said, I'm interested to know what kind of bike you ride (because I need to buy one since I've cut back on team sports lately). Any input will gladly be repaid by more additional (per probably not-so-useful-or-welcome) opines on my part 8-) Thanks much Puhpine 8-)

By the way (I love the positive edge on your post); We get so many (-) ones and it's much better to see posts like this (especially for the readers).

Hope your ride was a success. BTW - nothing wrong with your imagination. Take inspiration any way you can get it!
