So very true! Must be a way of life you can enjoy!

So very true you have to like what you are eating and not feel deprived. Once that happens you will overindulge and go backwards.

Portion control is the key! I know you understand that...I am working hard on it so I can maintain as I hit my weight range

You are so right. Losing weight is a marathon, not a sprint. Find a plan that you can stick to long range. You are less likely to gain the weight back if you do so.

Way of eating - not a "die"t.

I think you’re right.. and maybe some incremental change (no soda pop or sugar drinks.. period)

Im thinking ur right..I have a cheat meal and then I go off the deep end! I either need to stay on my plan or figure out how not to go overboard!

Diana what I do is have a healthy breakfast and lunch. Things I really like to eat. Drink a gallon of water a day to keep cravings at bay and prevent overeating and then for dinner I eat whatever. I portion control but give myself some flexibility. I go by the average calories per week instead of daily to make things a lot easier.

I don't call them cheat meals, I call them celebrations and they are rare. On a day to day basis, my WOE is delicious and sustainable. But once in awhile, there are occasions when social events happen and eating seems to always be a part of our social life. So when the occasion merits it, I eat things that are normally not a part of my WOE. I enjoy them fully, and start fresh the next day with my standard WOE. It's call living! :-) I *never* just "cheat" and have something I shouldn't. If I eat off-plan, there's party going on!

That is absolutely correct. Cheat meals always lead to a binge, well in my case.

"Cheat meals" are a problem, but I think if we know we're going somewhere "special" and either plan for it OR allow for some occasional extra calories into our "way of eating" then we'll probably be okay. I guess the key word is "occasional." We will always be invited to parties or have last-minute things come up that can potentially derail an eating plan, that's just life. It doesn't have to derail the eating plan permanently, though. OTOH, if an "eating plan" expects me to avoid chocolate, that's practically guaranteed to fail. Better if I work small amounts of chocolate into my diet than try to forego it altogether.

Cheat meals helped me lose weight when I needed a huge lifestyle change. I only did it for a few months. I soon learned to cook healthy food I loved, and no longer needed the "cheats". Everyone is different!

@Taurielfan, I eat lots of chocolate on my WOE. The trick is to make your own treats. I use 100% Cacao powder and use my own coconut oil, butter, or avocado oil, plus the sweetener of MY choice to make some wonderful chocolate treats.

Nidoqueen social events are essential in my life 💞🥘

Agreed. It is important to remember 'food treats' are for pets, not people. Find rewards other than food.
