susieq1941's Journal, 09 January 2008

uh oh! I am feeling a little down/negative. I too haven't seen the scale move but up and down 1/2 pound over the past few weeks. At last count, true, I am lower than ever but am feeling kind of sad. Each day I mean to tweak the diet by lowering my calories, but I can't seem to do it. Today I had popcorn in the movie and I think it started carb cravings, or food cravings, or maybe food guilt but I WILL BE ABLE to keep it at the regular amount of calories for the day (under 1200) that I seem to be consuming (if I stop at this very minute from eating anything but drinking tea. I am sitting here wondering how in the world did I lose weight since on SB when for at least 3 weeks I haven't moved-I must have done something right, but now I'm thinking I'm not going to go lower EVER. On the positive side, I think I will plan menu for tomorrow in advance that is lower in calories, but not really in amount of food. Then I can do the same thing the next day and the next. Think I will read now and get out of myself for a while.....Thanx.

Aww, I'm sorry you're feeling down. It'll be ok. And popcorn isn't too bad. Look at my journal from a few weeks ago! You can do it!

hey girl, keep your head up! it's okay to be in a little slump or plateau, just muster up that determination again and maybe up the exercise(that's the hardest for me) and think positive! thank you for the positive props on my wt loss, and don't forget, we're ALL rooting for you!!

agggh I can understand your frustration. But please remember that whilst you have been "stuck" at the 156 level, you didnt put any weight on over xmas, so surely in usual times that would have actually been a lost. Hitting a plateau is hard, and discouraging, but work through it! Dont give up now! I think what you say about changing things a little bit may be key. When the body is used to having the same amount of food or calories a day it adapts itself to be able to survive on that about of calories and so the weight loss slows down. Try increasing the amount you eat one day, and balancing that out by eat less the next day, and then more the next, and then less etc. Either way, be strong and plough on, you have done so well so far and it would be such a shame to pack it in. Good luck.
