Basically it's plain water that has a ceramic stick filled with magnesium dropped into it. The chemical reaction causes free hydrogen molecules to be generated constantly. Hydrogen is a very light gas, and disperses quickly, which is why the 'generator stick' should be kept in the water as you drink. It appears that most of the studies have been done in Japan. The results look promising, as hydrogen is a powerful antioxidant. One study looked at benefits in people at risk of metabolic syndrome, and were told to drink 2 quarts of H20+H daily for 2 months. The results were promising, improving all the markers, some up to 39%! Another study looked at liver cancer patients, and the water helped reduce the oxidant markers significantly. It also, apparently, helps to quell some of the drug side effects from chemo.
