MrsTofu's Journal, 01 March 2012

Ate more than I intended to at breakfast, though I am starting to be more consistent with controlling my food intake. At least I hope that's the case, so far this week I think I've been doing alright. Looking forward to seeing a drop on the scale with the next weigh in. Finding myself preoccupied with food right now, which is making it hard to wait for lunch (I usually try to have lunch around 1pm or so, that way I am full for more of the day and not looking to snack.). I need to get moving. Feeling lazy. I know I'll feel worse if I don't get something done though. I guess I have stuff in the back of my mind giving me some anxiety and that is adding to the general reluctance to move and preoccupation with food.

Well, then just be in the moment and focus on the good things of this moment to help keep the anxiety at bay. Anxiety is a time thief taking up time and space in our minds, like speed bumps at every turn. Praying you have a smooth day!

Thanks DLynne! I did some chores so that I wasn't being idle and then made sure to spend some time reading G-d's word. (I've now read through all the books of the Minor Prophets! :-D ) I'm trying to read through the entire Bible, though not in any particular order. When I finish it will be the first time I've ever read all of it.

I think I've read most of the Old Testament, some parts many times, but I haven't read all of Lamentations or Song of Solomon, and there are other parts I know I've read but have no memory of. Then there are parts I've read over and over again. I love the Proverbs and Psalms. I truly love ALL the New Testament. I've read Revelations but can't retain much except the last two chapters. But the Gospels and the Epistles I adore and spend most of my reading time there. I believe the Holy Spirit's duty is to help us know and understand the words of Jesus. I believe He will make the New Testament a priority, He has for me so far. Not only the Gospels but perhaps even more the teachings of the New Covenant as expressed by the Holy Spirit through the Apostles. In the Old Testament it is His desire that we see Jesus there. If we can't see Jesus everywhere in the Bible then we should devote most of our time in studying the New Covenant until we're mature enough in our understanding of the purpose of Jesus to see what God was doing in the Old Testament. All the Bible is about Jesus. Types and shadows. Joseph was a type of Jesus. The story of Abraham and his willingness to sacrifice Issac was a type of Jesus. The High Priest was an example of Jesus. The mercy seat was a type of Jesus. The rock from which water spang out of for Moses was a type and shadow of Jesus. The Old Testament is filled with the meaning of Jesus. Praise God! Enjoy your studies!

That's awesome! I think I've read Lamentations and I know I've read Song of Solomon before. Mainly the books I haven't read all the way through are Chronicles, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezequiel, possibly Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah, and the books following James in the New Covenant/Testament writings. I know I don't understand large parts of it even after reading and often wonder if not being Jewish is one of the barriers to understanding what was written.

My favorite Bible resources online are Bible Gateway and Blue Letter Bible; though there are many other Bibles online. At Bible Gateway I love that I can find so many translations or versions available at a click. They even have the option of showing parallel versions at the same time. Love that! With the Blue Letter Bible I can look up the original Hebrew and Greek words to see what the original meaning was. I also spend a lot of time driving so I love listening to different translations in my car. But there is no replacement for sitting down with the book and reading the printed words, so I've also collected several written versions too. That's where the Holy Spirit is best able to speak to me, when I can see the written version; so keep reading and you'll understand what He wants you to know. :)
