Hearing the author's husband read this blog to a group of us last Saturday night was...life changing. It just goes to reiterate what my Dad told me (multiple times as I grew up) You can do anything you set your mind to do. Buckle down, and do it.

Here is how my "vacation" weekend went - the highlights of a changed life.
Friday - Hiked 2.9 miles and walked 1.40 miles to/from hotel, resulting in over 16,000 steps. Packed our own trail mix (portion size controlled - Captain Crunch, white cheddar popcorn, plain M&Ms, craisins, and raw peanuts). Ate our lunch - Buffalo Chicken Salad w/5 butter crackers, 1 cup celery, 1 cup carrots and natural peanut butter.

Saturday -- Walked to/from hotel (1.40 miles), Hiked resulting in over 11,000 steps. Stopped at Krispy Kreme donuts and got 3 donuts (vs the normal dozen). We ate 1 1/2 donuts each.

Sunday - Succumbed to the amazing macaroni and cheese (had approx 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup portion) and had 4 hushpuppies, and some amazing mini dessert - shot glass of lemon meringue pie, and an inch square chocolate/butterscotch bar. I did have a fairly large salad and baked chicken too. Later we went to the Sweet Frog yogurt shop, and the cotton candy frozen yogurt and all those stupid toppings....

Monday - *Each morning we are eating breakfast in our hotel room of oatmeal, apple, and a peanutty peanut bar (21 day fix recipe). Opted not to get the fru-fru coffee and stuck with green tea (no sugar/no cream). Opted not to purchase the enticing candies at the check out counter of Tuesday Morning shop, only the 2 garden flags and a pair of garden gloves. Also got a really short hike in at a local state park - bit more on a time constraint on way home. Stopped for Subway lunch, and munchies bag to split (and bring home), got Perrier (my version of a soda, with ginger ale as the only exception).

I've learned when our refrigerator is nearly empty of good things, my "go-to" is carbs -- the more the better. Sometimes that means eating too much of a good thing, like Fiber One chocolate brownies....and I paid for it. So thankful my husband had the good sense to pick up some of our favorite staples on the way home. (Celery, carrots (not baby), grapes (to freeze 1 cup at a time for a healthy snack), unsweetened almond milk, and I think that was it.

I've been struggling with writing stuff down again. I've been struggling with exercising at home. I've been struggling with temptation -- darn those exercise TV
infomercials! However, today I reminded myself I have a Netflix account and have the version where I can get DVDS....so, I have a few exercise DVDs saved for the future...one nearer than others. Currently in middle of Harry Potter movies...so.... I have everything I need to succeed, and yet I am like a bucking bronco. I take a few steps forward and then lose my mind. And then wonder later what happened. I'm still working on it....and I AM CAPABLE OF SUCCESS!

P.S. Craved a soda yesterday - hubby has Coke Zero in house, so I popped an 8 fl oz can open, took a sip, and poured it down the drain. It tasted so nasty. Which is also the same way I feel about the Diet Dr Pepper I tried last month. Why do I want to put nasty tasting stuff in by body??? After that, I put on my imaginary hat and dreamed the tap water was Perrier.....
