My question: do I eat?

Today was my first day back in the gym in MONTHS! Started driving for Uber in my downtime and I'm addicted so, of course, everything else went out the window.

I've been eating intuitively to fight against weight gain, and it has been working. However, I overheard one of my coworkers talking about how much she used to weigh even as a runner. She said her problem was that exercise always made her hungry so she used to give herself all kinds of permission to eat more. She said, that she finally started losing weight when it occurred to her that she only needed to eat what satisfied her before she started all of that exercise.

So...as it is my first day back in the gym, and I'm suddenly finding myself famished two hours after I had my post workout breakfast, and two hours before lunch. Do I eat? I'm going to have an apple while I wait for responses.

With intuitive eating I wait to eat breakfast until I actually get hungry for it. Sometimes that's 830 sometimes that 11 sometimes that's 1. It's working, believe me. But with the exercise my body signals are all over the place.

I when I was fit enough to work out all the time, I always found that it suppressed my appetite. I would panic because I wasn't ever hungry and I wasn't eating enough to meet the bare minimums of what is healthy. Some days, not all the time.

Working out doesn't suppress my appetite...I wish it did. Sometimes I'm famished right after, and sometimes I'm nauseated for a little bit (drinking water too much/too fast) then I get famished. The apple helped for about an hour, but I did wait until noon to have lunch. Just my salad (high fat content). I'm hungry again, but will wait til 3 to be good and hungry for my sweet potato.

I am right there with you, was going to gym daily and stopped for a weekend (around mid June) and now just trying to get back. Maybe we can commit to each, by this Wednesday make a trip back. Working didn't suppress mine either BUT definitely kept me motivated, and feeling the endorphin high (oh and belly fat at my age pops back immediately without gym...UGH)

Hey Ginsin, so after writing this post I thought about goal setting. So I'm motivated to get back into working out because I have another music festival I'm going to in November. I realized that's 8 weeks away, so in my half marathon training I should be up to 8 miles, so my weight loss goal is 8 pounds. I think it's doable taking this one day at a time :)
