jessberry's Journal, 04 April 2016

I ate more this past weekend than I have in a long time. Not sure why... I'm thinking maybe because of stress due to upcoming surgery? I'm having LASIK done on my eyes. Even though it's an elective procedure, I'm freaking out a little! Today I have a massive headache. I have to wear my glasses every day until the surgery, which is on the 14th. I usually wear contacts because my glasses give me very bad headaches, but doc says no more contacts... Gotta let my eyes rest! Well, I sure don't feel like my eyes are resting, I feel like they are straining. Oh well, I know it's for the best. I'll just have to suck it up for a couple weeks, then no more glasses at all! I am counting down the days. I've been practically blind since the 8th grade. Just the thought of waking up in the morning and not having to immediately reach for my glasses is a dream come true!

My Sister works for a Laser-Eye Chain, very effective and quick process...painless procedure. My wife had her eyes zapped and a couple of days later she had "HD Vision" as she calls it...20/15. Nothing to worry about. They should have prescribed you 1 pill of valium or xanax to take the morning of. If not, give them a call and say you want one...will it that much smoother for you..

Good luck with the surgery :-)

@mahjohn- Its funny that she said "HD" vision... That's exactly what my dad said! He had it done years ago, and he said he'd do it again in a heartbeat, and that it was the best decision he'd ever made. I'm sure it will be fine, but I'm super nervous! They are giving me a Valium, but I'd take 2 if they'd let me :) @snezica- thanks :)

pretty much what she said....while she wishes she had done it sooner, she's glad she waited for the technology to mature. Hers was 2 years ago...Good Luck!!

Jessberry, any surgery - even when it's elective and when you know what's going to happen - can make you freak out a little bit. The no more glasses though will be very cool! Good luck with the surgery...but mostly with keeping on an even keel for the next couple weeks.

Thanks, all! I haven't been commenting or journaling much because I've been wearing my glasses until the surgery and they are STILL giving me headaches, ugh! I have been managing to log all my food, so that's a plus!

Sorry about your headaches:/ Hopefully all will be worth it when it's done! Hang in there. Glad your still managing your food log. Life gets busy!!!

my dad had a bunch of surgeries done to his eyes.. he made it through.. you'll be ok...wonder if you get a sedative too.... that would probably make it way better

@hunter- I will, thank goodness! I went yesterday for my pre-op visit, and they gave me a prescription for Lunesta. After the surgery they want me to basically sleep all day and night, then when I wake up, I have to go back for a recheck. My surgery is Thursday @ 1:30. I'm already panicking. I know it'll be ok, but just the thought of lasers cutting my eye freaks me out.

It's kind of scary having anything done to your eyes. I had surgery on one of my eyes and although it was no big deal to anyone else...I was scared. I believe it is unavoidable. Keep the faith and plow through it. The end result with be great!

Nobar, that's how I feel! My husband's like "Why are you so worried, people get this done every day?"...and all I can think is "yeah, well, you're not the one with lasers cutting your eyes!"

you probably will just see a little light and be annoyed that you can't close your eye.
