Day 3 of 30

The day started out real well. I was energetic and not experiencing any hunger pangs. However, after my Pilates class, I started experiencing the cramps...more severe than last night. I was getting them everywhere...legs, arms, back, and etc. It was sorta scary. I quickly made a juice w/lots of celery thinking the sodium would help and it did a little. What actually helped completely was water! I am gathering that juice fasting requires me to drink more water??I
I normally drink anywhere from 64oz to 100oz daily. Today, I have had approximately 120oz. As longs as my cramping stops...I am ok with it.

I get cramps sometimes and my Dr. told me to take magnesium and eating a banana or a potassium supplement works. Check with your doctor first.

Thank you, Moonfairie. I am currently juice fasting so I will be more mindful in incorporating magnesium rich veggies.

Ke2li, I have never juice fasted before, however, most of the reading I have done about fasting in general all say that you need to supplement with certain things in order not to have serious issues. Magnesium Citrate is strongly recommended for people doing their first fast because you lose lots of fluids and electrolytes. Magnesium helps muscles relax and reduces cramps. I take 400 mg on my fasting days to prevent any discomfort. Hope this helps, also, in the reading I have done on fasting, it warns against heavy workouts while you are not getting enough nutrition for your body to function optimally. I've never done Pilates, but I have seen it done and it's a rather intense workout. You are most likely dehydrated and short on electrolytes.

debrafrederick, I am sure you are right about being dehydrated and depleted in electrolytes. If I experience the cramps again tomorrow, I will cave and start implementing supplements.

I suggest magnesium, too. I take it at night and it relieves muscle cramps m-mespecially after a heavy weight training session!
