Just saw my in-laws off today after a great visit. It's so great to have them, but it was also a bit of an excuse to depart from my normal routines which have been so successful in the weight-loss department. In fairness, any departure from the norm, even when you are at home, can make it more challenging to keep to those good habits. I think I still lost weight, due in part to the amount of walking we have done while taking in the attractions. In any case, it's time to get serious again. Few-to-no meals out, plenty of fruit and veggie snacks when I do have to be away. And back to recording Every. Blessed. Thing. I. Eat. Or. Drink. Preferably before I actually consume it.

I used to completely panic when I had to go away or do things differently, but I am much stronger now. I can so totally do this. I am so close to a couple of important milestones. It seems like forever until I can reach my goal weight. It might take a whole year or more from the time I first began my journey, especially when you consider that the holidays will be arriving, with their promise of parties and comfort food served in unmeasured quantities. But I'll get there. Even if I have to compensate for some indulgence, even if the worse weather makes it harder to get outside. What I am doing really works, I feel great, and I may just be healthier now than at any previous time in my life. I just have to hang in there. Any given weigh-in means nothing, one bad food day or lazy exercise day means nothing. A sustained effort will carry the day.
