Penlan's Journal, 27 November 2015

My lunch is actually my breakfast. Technically, as it's the first food I eat in the day, but it's at lunchtime.

I don't 'skip' breakfast, but don't want to eat unless I am hungry or active. I don't ever feel hungry, not since I gave up grains. Not even if I eat nothing all day. I used to get the shakes which only bread would stop. Fruit didn't work. I thought it was low blood glucose. Seems not, as without the grains (over 3 years now) I have not had the shakes or hunger. Interesting. Well, it is to me.

I struggled with eating breakfast all my life, as I was told 'I had to' and it was 'the most important meal of the day' and 'it sets you up for the day' Well, I tried it for most of my life and it didn't work for me. Made me slow and lethargic. And not wanting to go out to work the farm with food in my stomach I finally gave it up and have been happier ever since. That was a long time ago now too. Suits me.

I have come to the conclusion that grain carbs don't suit me particularly well. Even if I *could* eat them, the grains make me slow and head mushed. I appreciate some people run on carbs and if they go near fat they gain weight. We are all different.

My carbs have gone up a lot since including sweet potato. It's raw and has a low GI so will monitor what happens.

AS I say, it's interesting. It's more than that, it's fascinating!

I could talk about the base metabolic rate paradox.....
