BulletProof3's Journal, 20 November 2015

Good morning, everyone! :)

I guess it's off to the dr. today for another blood panel. I'm only going so my nurse practitioner will stop harassing me...lol. When I told her I was doing a HFLC diet, she immediately ordered blood work every 6 months. Like I told her, "If this WOE is wrong, I don't wanna be right." I have came off of high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression meds. I am also no longer pre-diabetic. Not to mention the weight loss. I really don't know what else she wants, unless it's that I be a lab rat...lol.

Anywhoo... Have a great day, buddies! :)

oh boy,, good luck . Drs don't like us doing LCHF. they will try and scare you . They would rather you be sick and on Medication for the Pharmaceutical industry to profit . and she wants you back every 6 months so the office can profit . My Dr used to have me come in every 6 months until I finally said,, I will call you when I am sick or am due for a routine check up .

Oh, how well do I know...Tamarah Joe! O my, your philosophy sounds so much like mine! You should here my conspiracy speech...lol. Everyone looks at me like I have completely lost my mind when I get down into it..LMAO! What is good for population doesn't mean it's good for individual. Well...I haven't been in a year, but the letters just won't stop...lol. So, I figure I'll get my report and read it myself. It will also be a good opportunity for my ins to pay for me to get my vitamin and iron levels checked ;)

It's so bizarre the nutritionist at the hospital here says that Atkins is considered a fad diet but the doctor says as long as you're losing inches and get the waist down he's happy I think they need to sit down and have a long discussion and come to a conclusion before saying anything to us if your blood numbers come out good and you feel good that's the most important thing

I think it is time to get a new doctor! OH, blkbear didn't you know... Doctor's don't take 1 single nutrition class in all the years they study and practice! I found a great nurse practitioner who says OK when I tell her I want this number to be this because I've never once been average at anything! She records that in my patient file (that covers her liability) and we have a great time when I visit. Ya'll have a great weekend :D

I guess I'm fortunate. My current Dr didn't have any issues when I was doing LCHF. What he cared about was my health markers. I had blood work every 4 months because I was diabetic until I lost a bunch of weight. The last visit he wanted to change the visits to once a year but was concerned about what the insurance company would say. He did drop it to every 6 months for now. Good luck on your blood work.

I totally understand - people in medicine are not well educated about nutrition, they will say you NEED carbs when you do not - just a little fruits and a few v3ggies for fiber. They will say you need more protein - and that is good but too much will become glucose in the end. You are fat adapted with ketogenic diet. Your body runs on dietary fat and burns your body fat, I have the same argument!

Welp, I just got back. I had a new nurse practitioner. My old one has left. Though I'm sure it's noted in my file that I do a LCHF diet, I just told her LC. I was telling her that I am a google fanatic, esp when it comes to diet and health. She kept repeating "just be sure you get your information from the right place.", and gave me several examples of LF sites. I'm not taking a shot here, but she is REALLY overweight. I don't understand how she thinks her sources of info could possibly be the right sources. Anywhoo... :)

Your intuition is never wrong!

This is what has always pissed me off about "some" health officials... they are giving advice and they have weight/health issues too and probably follow the same advice they are handing out... like my doc wanting to give me the same statin that DID NOT keep him from having a heart attack.. oh, but maybe it would work for me! Forget it! I've done too much research on LCHF to know it works and I refuse to go back to LFHC eating. These health officials can kiss my slowly thinning arse! Ha!
