ddrudd's Journal, 30 January 2024

Since I complained about feeling crazy amounts of tired all the time I’m actually feeling a little better. I started being better about taking Vit D supplements but I don’t think that would have caused a change so fast. The other thing I did was change my macro mix a little bit - a little more fat, a little less carbs. Started to feel more energized within about a week of changing the mix. So maybe that was all it was. Will still ask for blood work from the doc just to check everything. FWIW I think this is closer to how I naturally eat when not tracking.

Sounds great! I feel better with less carbs too.

Yeah @morticia and @OTB I hope this is the solution, if so, a pretty easy fix. Lol for a little while there I kept craving butter and I was reading how that can mean you need more fat soluble vitamins… but finally I was like “well maybe what I need is butter” 😆

I feel better, as in lighter more mental acuity and sharpness when carbs are kept low, it really keeps sluggishness at bay and I get more energised too. But I have to be careful I make time to get enough fibre, because that can be a real challenge when your going for a high protein balance. It takes time to figure it all out. For sure.

@bandrai to be clear I am definitely not low carb, lol. I don't think that would fit my lifestyle very well, I need the carbs for energy. I had brought carbs up to about 50% for a while and then just backed off to about 45% in the last week or so. And I'm not keeping protein any higher than needed for muscle building. I actually want as much of my diet as possible to be plant-based which means lots of carbs :)
