p$m's Journal, 13 March 2023

This month is not going well for me. I go up and down and am frustrated. I know it's my own fault but I cant seem to get it together. I wake up fully committed then somewhere during the day my drive drops. I get soft on my committment and start telling myself a little wont hurt. I've been good all day. I dont know how to keep my commitment to myself going.

Annoyed with myself on a Monday... I hope everyone else is having a better day.

when you start to lose your drive, sit down and make a list of small non-food rewards you can give yourself....then give yourself one of them and enjoy it like you would enjoy more food. And congratulate yourself for all your work!

first, love yourself. at all times! we are all only human, and each of us will fail at something each day. but stay on the horse and ride it to the finish line! it's not your job to Haye on yourself, the world takes care of that just fine. stay focused! I make mini goals along the way. it truly is one day at a time. my mantra is be stronger than your weakness! if u fall off the wagon just climb back on again and in the end it is what it is. but love yourself first and embrace who you are however you are! God made no mistakes in designing you!

I started telling myself "it's not worth it" when I'd think of eating something I shouldn't. Only worked 50% of the time at first. Now works 99.9% of the time. You got this!

Keep going, coming from someone who was once 315Lbs and dropped down to 208 at my lowest. I was back up to 230Lbs and after weeks of not months of trying to adjust im finally down to 224Lbs. Consistency is key, even if you’re not doing it right at least you’re doing something!

Mid to late day is the hardest to stay on track. Try not to feel upset. Take that negative energy and use it to focus on how you can do better in the future. I know if I wait too long to eat, I feel like crap and get a headache. This leads to me eating whatever. So maybe try eating more frequently?

Try revisiting your “Why.” Why do you want (or need) to lose weight? If you need a big push, you could have someone take a full length picture of you standing next to a fit and trim person (photos can give you perspective). You can also get an annual physical exam with bloodwork, which can be highly motivational if you’re out of normal range on some tests.

I have discovered snacking is my worst enemy. It does not matter that my snack of choice is healthy, cheese or nuts, they still cause an insulin spike, which is the fat storing hormone. I am back on the wagon, cutting out the snacking, while enjoying cheesecake and low carb ice cream for dessert, but keeping those with a meal.

@nan I think I have the same problem. I tend to pick all day. I really only eat one real meal which is lunch.

@just I want to lose weight because I want to get rid of my belly. I think most people call it menopause tummy but I know a lot of when here in NY who are in menopause and are tiny. I just wish it would go back to the way it was before I hit menopause.

@P$M: The pooch is a stubborn thing, true, and the last to go. I'm finished with menopause and do not have the belly, but I do have to work at keeping my derrière lifted to pre-menopausal heights. The bigger issue is that the waistline is directly related to heart health, so it wouldn't hurt to have a Lipid Panel drawn to check cholesterol levels and your blood pressure measured at the doc's.

P$M, OMAD (One Meal a Day) a form of IF (Intermittent Fasting) is an option, but you really need to eliminate the snacking. If lunch your meal of choice, go to town and eat all your calories in that one meal. Don't skimp on the calories as that will just throw a wrench in your metabolism. One other suggestion that might help is to shake up your eating schedule or throw in an occasional day of fasting. Fasting induces autophagy, cellular recycling. If is the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth. Good luck on your journey.

@just funny I just went to the dr yesterday and everything is fine. I’m within normal range.

@nan. Thanks I’ll try. I think my issue is more with sticking to it. I can’t seem to sustain the loss because everything I try just isn’t what I’ll consistently do for the rest of my life. I need to find something that will be manageable.
