Jennifer2010's Journal, 11 July 2011

I gained almost 2 lbs. I am so upset right now, I do not know what to say.
I have called my doctor to see if I can get off the depo and just have the hysterectomy.
I cried for like 2 hours before bed last night.
I worked out, I had a treat meal, and one snack on the weekend. Just after not losing anything for 3 weeks, and then gaining...WTF. I am just so upset over this. Ready to throw in the towel.
I did get TOM over the weekend, and I AM NOT SUPPOSED to with the amount of depo they have me on, the whole reason of the deop shot was to avoid giving me a hysterectomy in the first place. But right now I do not care. I have had too many miscarriages, the longest time I carried was for 2 months and I was SO sick, BF has a vesectomy, and I have given up on getting pregnant. I have 2 step kids. I am fine. Just get rid of it.

First... you just said you got tom (even though you aren't supposed to), second you have upped your exercise like crazy this last bit. Third, I looked in your diet calander and it is incomplete (or it looks that way).. So... by the looks of those 3 things you could be retaining fluid, or you may not be eating enough to go with the exercise you have been doing. You have made the appt with your Dr. talk to them and tell them EXACTLY how you feel, you said yourself you have given up on getting pregnant so make sure the Dr. understands this. Being as the Depo was supposed to help you with out the hystorectomy your hormones are probably all out of whack and the hystorectomy may be the only thing that could fix this. Now, you know you are doing everything right...and our bodies tend to be a pain in the ass when it comes to this weight loss stuff but what ever you do ... DO NOT GIVE UP. Think about it this way, if you give up it would be a whole lot more than the 2 pounds this past week, not only that you may be gaining but think about how much healthier you really are - weight is only one factor. Your heart and lungs are probably thanking you for the exercise, and I bet your hair and skin are looking better. I get the frustratin - boy do I get it after a year of hovering roughly around the same spot. Take this as a blip on the radar (a painful kick in the face kind of blip, but a blip none the less). It will pass I have faith that it will.

I'd chat with the doctor to see if there's anything else going on other than the depo... it might be a quick check with a blood test to make sure all is well.

You can't give up, Healthy eating and exercise is your new life. I know this has to be upsetting. It took me 15 months to lose just 18 pounds and not to mention the back and forth with the same three pounds for I don't know how long. Talk to your doctor and also be aware of the after effects of a hystorectomy, I am not sure how that effects weight but if you are just doing the hystorectomy because of the weight you might want to know the "side effects" of it. Hang in there I know you are frustrated and it is never easy trying to lose weight. Our bodies are always plotting and planning against us. Whatever you decise it will be the best for you and I hope you find the best option. Stay with it and when you need help get back on fs and we are always here for you.

Unless you ate a surplus of hundreds of calories a day I doubt it is fat. I agree in regards to checking with your doctor regardless since certain meds cause weight gain or make losing hard. I would hope that you wouldn't give up your journey to better health but that is yours alone to decide. This will certainly not be the last hiccup, as these ladies can attest to. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Jenn, sorry this has you so upset. TOM is the wickedest. Unexpected TOM is even worse. I'm sure it didn't help how you're feeling, but it certainly helps to explain the gain. Don't give up PLEASE! I'd see the doctor like the ladies suggested and do whatever you have toward your overall health. Don't give up.

not giving up ladies, just venting some frustration. The purpose of the depo was to delay having a hysterectomy, not a total one still keeping the ovaries. Just have too many negative side effects on birth control. chugging away...
