Everything is going along just fine. The family is healthy again, thank goodness.

My current challenge is trying to balance my macros. I am aiming for a 40:30:30 balance of carbs:fat:protein. I tend to be low on the protein end of it and high on the carb end. I really have not paid a whole lot of attention to this before, concentrating more on calories than macros. One thing I read recommended finding a menu that worked and sticking with it, but I need to eat a variety of things. I suppose it will take some experimentation in the upcoming weeks to work out meals that fit the bill.

Any advice on how to approach this?

Good for you thinking of changing it up a bit. When I stall, I experiment with new things to see what best works.

Really it's about just planning out your day's menus in advance. Figure out the foods that work for the macros you want and then incorporate them into meals. If you are cooking for just you and doing separate meals for the family it is almost easier I find, then you only have to accommodate your tastes. If you are cooking for everyone it' s a bit more challenging.

I would get the protein up a bit and the fat down to 20%. Try to cut or reduce carbs from you last meal. Last meal at least 3 hours before bed time. And MOST importantly count macros to get to your caloric intake. Counting calories is not enough. For example if you eat 1500 calories of junk it WILL NOT have the same effect of 1500 calories of clean nutritional food. Take Care.

Have you looked at feeding your body nutrients. If a plant needs nutrients to survive and thrive I always question this concept of Carb Protein Fat?? Nutrients matter. If we do not have the complete compliment of Nutrients met or exceeded each day the BODY WILL REMAIN HUNGRY. (regardless of fat carbs or protein)…..THe CRON diet follows NUTRIENT DENSE foods to feed the body at the lowest calorie content possible. This assists longevity and actually feeds the body….Research the CRON methodology of eating…..i agree with GO-Ya….I have constructed a diet of 1000 to 1500 calories that strikes off all Nutritional Markers. (Use CRONOMETER)

This whole process gives me so much to think about. I am leaning toward Glen's idea...just eat less! :)
