BrandyRelaxing's Journal, 22 June 2011

Okay... so I've been noticing a couple of unusual things with more exercise... not necessarily all in the last few days (but in the last few weeks).

1. When I work out I sweat like I'm in a sauna... even after I stop working out, I still sweat for like 10 minutes or more after... not very excited about that.

2. Various joints - ankles, knees, hips are cracking more than they have in the past. Before might have been once every couple of days - now daily and sometimes more than that... was there fat keeping them lubricated? LOL

3. I'm warm all the time - perhaps it's that the A/C hasn't been on at the right temperature at work, but I used to be cold and now I'm warm... it's just odd.

Anyone else notice this stuff as you lost (or are losing) weight?

Very insightful observations, my dear. 1) Your metabolism is stimulated by exercise, & it keeps going after you stop so it's no surprise you still sweat for a while after you're done. From thermogenesis.org: "Thermogenesis is the process in which the body raises its temperature, or energy output. By increasing the thermogenesis within the body, the metabolism is raised and fat cells are then utilized as energy to support this metabolic increase. The thermogenesis process within the body can be triggered by nutrition, supplements and exercise." Still wish you didn't sweat? ;) 2) Your joints will definitely sound like rice krispies the more you walk/run. Assuming there's no pain associated you're probably fine. But do what you can to take extra good care of your joints, especially your knees. Alternating with elliptical is a great way to do that, so you're on the right track! 3) See 1).

Thanks Kat! The Theromogenesis certainly explains why my DH, who I jokingly refer to as my "furnace", can lose weight at twice the speed without much difference in effort! So apparently being warm is just being healthy! It's interesting it's really the first time I've noticed it in my life... and I'm 31!!
