Sandy701's Journal, 01 June 2011

Happy June all! I didn't drop the 5 pounds I'd hoped for, but made 3 go away, so I'll live with that. This gives me 2 more weeks to drop 2 pounds to stay on my "moderate" weight loss schedule. We'll see if my body cooperates and if I can stay away from my known triggers!!

Excessively hot today....99 degrees about noon and it went up a bit from there. I wasn't home to get the exact number, but I feel certain we broke 100 degrees.

Dogs and I went out this morning. They did 1.5 miles and I finished with a total of 2.7. I had one more loop to walk when I saw the truck for the company that was coming to fix our heat pump on the pool!!! Oh, joy!!! Of course, with the temps hovering well up in the 90's, we probably won't need to use the heat pump for the foreseeable future. Still, it FINALLY got fixed! Two and a half months and calls to 11 contractors, but it finally got repaired. Sheesh!

The replacement part for the lawn mower also arrived last week and DH got the mower up and running again. Of course, the longer-than-usual grass is waiting for me to mow it - and in this heat! Not sure when I'm going to fit that in. I'd skip the early morning walking tomorrow to do it, but then the dogs wouldn't get their stroll in and I have an AM commitment on Friday, so they wouldn't get a walk then either.

Nothing is preventing me from doing anything in the main part of the day or even the evening, but with the heat, my energy level only lasts so long.

Summer is here - and so is hurricane season.

Wow Sandy, I thought it was hot here in VA..Well I only lost close to 2 pounds so your ahead of me girl.. I have dicided to try to lose 5 by June 30 and add the ones I lost in May.. Thats my goal. So if you want to join me and I will ask Buffy as well. The only thing I ask is for none of us to stress over it.. This is a friendly challenge. I think I lose better if not under stress.. So glad your pool heater is fixed even though the heat is warming it up nicely I think.. Have a great evening...Bren

Paula, look for the hottest part of the Southeast on today's weather map and you'll see it's Northern FL. Hope those storms bypassed you today...

Buffy, that's why I think it's somewhat easier to lose weight in the summer...all that sweating!

Sandy and Bren - I'm always up for a mini challenge - of course it is easy with Bren because she keeps granting us extensions!

Bren, I agree that stress is a weight-loss buster! But after losing some weight, I've become somewhat complacent about losing more, which is not a good thing. I need to stay focused on getting this done! I know I'm never "done," but you know what I mean. Have a good evening.

Hi Sandy and Buffy,I know that life gets in the way and some challenges are very good for you. It really makes you think about what your doing in the process of losing. I feel guilty if I am not perfect and then I get tense and I hate the feeling. I really do better if I don't stress cause thats why I am as big as I am now. I am trying my best to just breath deeply and let the problems not get me in an unhappy place. That said, lets do our best but only what we really can do happily..

Bren - Well said! We may think we should be doing this perfectly - but there is really no such thing (unless there is someone on here who is perfect and not sharing).

Sandy - You have come so far. Maybe it is a good thing to stop and catch your breath before trying to climb the next hill. But eventually you will climb that next hill - I have faith in you.

Bren, you're right...going thru weight loss feeling tense and stressed and guilty, even when there's nothing to feel guilty about, is no way to lose weight. I call it "white-knuckling" my way through! And there was a period of time a month or two ago when I felt exactly that way. Had to relax, although I may have relaxed just a wee bit too far. Got to find that happy medium!!

Buffy....glad you have faith in me. I have actually considered taking that "at least 6 months" break they write about in the Atkins book. I might journal about that tomorrow. But, for now, I'm not planning on taking that break...I hate to disrupt my boring ol' routine! LOL!
