Katsolo's Journal, 09 May 2022

Day 9, 5 minutes in peak, 10 in cardio, average was 143 for the workout. my walking is going to be curtailed, Hogan is going to be crated for at least 30 days to try to heal what we think is a ruptured disk in his neck. serious stuff, he's heavily drugged and we're working with a neurologist. we'll go from there. I've moved through my initial breakdowns over the weekend and I am embracing the treatment plan to get us there together. I have alternate ways to burn my calories and that's what I'll do. I also need to walk the two other dogs, but can't be away for hours at a time anymore. will also work on lifting more heavy things since it keeps me close to home. good reason to finish the office/gym project, too.

All thoughts, prayers and positivity appreciated. he is my biggest baby.

It’s been a strange journey getting here, but he kept having pain when he moves his head. Vet decided it was related to some tooth issues and we did that and they removed three front teeth that got cracked which was kind of unusual. He came out of that well, but once his meds was up he started crying in pain when he moves his head to the right. Vet sent us to neurologist, which is what we did Friday. He’s medicated and sedated and just hanging out in his crate. He doesn’t even mind, which is good. He’s allowed to come out to eat in a platform and to use the bathroom, but that’s it. The less movement, the better. Trying to decide if we want to visit the animal hospital that has chiropractic practice attached. Haven’t made that call yet. He seems like he’s in less pain today, but that could be the painkillers finally working. Anti inflammatory was making things better, so I’m hoping rest will heal him. He’s only eight and in great shape for his age because of our walking. praying we get through this and he can join again. The other dogs are weird without him. Pack is pretty tight.

Sorry for your pup.

It could be other things, but we’re trying this first as neurologist said it was highly likely.

🙏🙏🙏 For you and Hogan. I think it's less stressful for me to be unwell than my Furry kids. He has such a trusting look. No way not to feel the love!

Well bless his little baby heart! Having them in pain is such a terrible feeling. I am glad he doesn't seem to mind.

Aah Kat, I am sending so much positive energy your way! Good to hear the painkillers and anti inflammatory meds are working and that he's not too fussed. I can imagine your other two being a bit lost with him not able to be with them fully though. Hope the course of action all goes smoothly and that you all get through this! xxx

Oh, poor Hogan. Praying that he learns to appreciate the crate and he heals quickly and completely.

truly, thank you all for the kind comments and prayers. I'm working on getting him a chiropractor visit this morning as my gut says go with the simplest approach before jumping into surgery.
