Shrinking Sonya's Journal, 26 April 2011

I have noticed a trend in my diet calendar; carbs take up about half of my intake every single day. When I really work at it, I have about 25% protein, 25% fat, and 50% carbs. Hmm. I've been losing weight and all, but I wonder what I could do to work at making it 50% protein instead. I don't feel like eating boiled eggs every day lol. I did try Greek yogurt for the first time yesterday and it was pretty good, and I know it has more protein than regular yogurt, so I could probably work it into my routine. Any other suggestions FS buddies? More protein, that's the goal :)

i often look in other peoples food journal to see what they are eating...i myself drink a protein shake with yogurt added..it gives me my protein plus it also keeps me from being as hungry thru the day...eating more chicken, tuna, and or meat will give you more protein in your plan...

Well I did buy natural almonds. And last week I bought crunchy reduced fat peanut butter but that got WAY outta control lol. 100 calories/tablespoon= Sonya having peanut butter breakdowns! Every time I had it I wanted more than one tablespoon, then felt guilty later cause I could've had a lot more to eat in small snacks instead of tiny servings of PB!

I eat close to 200g of protein a day, feel free to browse my food diary.

I used to have the problem too with PB, so I make peanut butter cream & that solves that issue. 2 tbsp PB, 1 scoop whey protein powder, 2-3 tbsp unsweetened almond milk. Mix until smooth & eat as is, or chill/freeze to make it ice cream-y!

Okay kstubblefield, tell me the in's and out's of whey protein. Where do I buy it, what kind do I buy, what does it taste like, and what's the average price for the stuff? (I ask because I live in a small town area and most things healthy are WAY overpriced compared to larger areas). Thanks for your help everybody :)

you can get whey protein at walmart...i buy mine on line at vitacost.com...an have for years..comes right to the door...i use to use milk, but now i mix a container of yogurt in with water..just enough water to help mix up the 2 scoops of protein...taste like chocolate milk..if you use heavy whip cream, then it taste just like a milk shake..like anything expermenting can be good...

I did a little research, and I'm thinking Biggest Loser Designer Whey Protein looks like a winner as it is on the lower calorie range for protein powder. I'm thinking about ordering some, but will check to see if they have it at our local Wal*Mart first.

go to Walmart and get Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein. it's great and cheap! $14.98/tub! I have the Chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Cookies and Creme. I am going to get strawberry next weekend. I only use 1 scoop with water - it has 26 grams of protein, perfect for my after workout recovery drink since it also has bcaa's! if you changed to 50% protein, I think you would notice a huge change! experiment with it to see what works best with your body.
