Michael Pollan Explains What's Wrong With the Paleo Diet

Seven hours of sleep with one wide-awake episodes. Switching to tea.

Morning plank and ten minutes first thing in the morning on the Air Walk Trainer to burn off glycogen.

Thursday was an up day on the Alternate-Day Diet - eat all I want - waffles.

Cardio: one hour on the Air Walk Trainer yesterday, plus five minutes every hour to offset the effects of sitting. Steps: 795. My new daily average to surpass is 747. My record on the Striiv Smart Pedometer is 1,781.

Overstock.com started selling locally sourced organic produce delivered to your door for $30 a week. One of the places they do it they're doing it is in Richmond where I live.

After a fallow period, I'm back to organizing the kitchen. I want to start taking some steps to insulate the place now it's turned colder. I missed out on a chance to appear on Hotel Impossible because I didn't have Skype on my Chromebook. Of course, two weeks after that happened, Skype is starting to run on the web. I finished streaming 30 Rock while doing my cardio and I started in on Portlandia. I thought about moving to Portland a year ago. However, I decided it was too far away from friends and relatives. Not to mention all the effort involved in starting all over again .

Half hour organizing the kitchen. Time spent on organizing the kitchen to date: five hours.

Tea is good. Do you think the coffee was keeping you awake? Did you drink it late in the day? You are really into organizing your kitchen. You remind me of a friend who always likes moving things around to change her scenery. Have fun!

Hey Chris, I was reading a DIY thing about using bubble wrap to insulate your windows, said that simply spraying the window with water and pressing large bubble (bubble side against the glass) wrap to your window squeezing out the air between the glass and the wrap can increase your heat retention by 20%.

kattay, actually, I switched to tea just to change things up. I've got large amounts or both coffee and tea I'm working my way through including a bag of decaffeinated coffee. I try to stop drinking caffeine after 3 p.m. Tea does have less caffeine than coffee but I was reusing the coffee grinds so it was a pretty weak brew. I used to drink a lot of caffeinated drinks including colas and coffee and it never really interfered with my sleep that much. I suspect my wide awake episodes have more to do with aging than anything else . . . Some of the kitchen organizing is actually cleaning, but it's a good idea to track it anyway because otherwise I will end up with a sink full of dirty dishes.

Thanks, Debra. I've used shrink wrap insulation on windows in the past.

You are in the Green! You look good in green! Just noticed that you have been in the green since the beginning of November. Congrats! I would have been doing a Happy Dance all over the place and shouting "I'm in the green"! Oh right...I did do that! :) Have fun!

Glad you haven't completely given up on coffee. I'm guessing you have thoroughly researched all the teas but I'm just throwing these out there anyway :) In the evenings I like peppermint tea which also helps with any kind of bloat and tummy issues. Chamomile tea helps sleeping issues and soothes the tummy. Green tea is touted for weight loss and antioxidants. So many herbal teas to try, fun to mix it up. Win, win.

Turns out caffeine stays in your system for 12 hours.

Well, in the case, I am caffeine logged! Caffeine generally has no effect on me because I used to drink a lot of diet coke and coffees. Now I love my black coffee, keeps me from eating too much.

As with all drugs, your mileage may vary. Thanks for the tea tips, kattay. Caffeine is one of those things that saws back and forth when it comes to health.
