scby99's Journal, 02 January 2014

I know that we are supposed to use the little food and exercise chart but it is a lot easier for me to type what i ate and did. So yesterday I did good until the night. At that point I ate 8 oreos and finished off my frozen yogurt. But today so far I was a lot better. I so far have eaten 3 pears, drink 1 slim fast and had some tea. Nobody ever said getting healthy was easy.

Healthy is a journey, not a destination. Oreos can help you to de-stress, which is actually quite good for you. (Sugar lowers cortisol.) Healthy doesn't mean being a no-treat nazi ;) I like to eat a whole pack of Oreos before going to the dentist for my annual cleaning, make those overpaid folks work for their money.

Oh my Scby! Not sure that pears, Slim Fast and tea was enough food. You might be starving again tonight.

Yesterday I started off great then remembered the goodies a friend has sent us home with from the party, the night before. The rest was a non-dietary blur. Today's a new day.

Scby99, I found on my journey to lose wt. and better health that I always had to be a least 3 steps ahead. Have a plan, with food prepared in advance, and stick to that plan. If you can do low carb and high protein you will never be hungry. Always have grilled chicken, grilled porkchops and even steak prepared. Many days for lunch I have a hamburger patty, onions, cheese and sliced tomatoes. (NO BUN) For lunch yesterday I had a big Taco Salad, no chips. Breakfast consisted of 3 bacon slices and cheese. At night my dessert is sugar free jello, Reddi Whip and a piece of Atkins bar. I want you to be successful, but being successful and hungry dont go together. If I can help in any way, let me know. YOU CAN DO THIS! Good luck.

I am on Low Carb and agree you have to be organised and it you are, you dont often feel hungry. You must stick to the rules though and read a good book like Atkins new Diet Revolution issued about 2002. Read it, you will understand what its all about (rather than the utter rubbish printed in magazines, and newspapers. Not aiming this at you Hoffner, but Scby99 and others might benefit :)

It is a learning process for sure. I like what Hoffner eats. Made me hungry. Where I find I make my mistakes is during the times I fall into the thinking that it's okay to eat off plan for celebrations and holidays and birthdays, etc. It really throws me off for weeks and then I get frustrated then I quit totally for a while. The trick is ... don't give up, don't give in to the holidays or celebrations ... give it all you got til you reach that goal! Let's do this for 2014! :)

I agree that you must first educate yourself on low-carb eating. The Atkins Books are just the ticket for that. Another good book to have on hand is, The Low-Carb Bible." It is a complete guide to successful low-carb dieting. I have almost worn mine out in the last 10 months. Having reached my wt. goal I am now on Phase 2 maintaining, although my food choices are still close to the same as when I first began. I most likely ate less then in a attempt to reach my goal and increased my exercise program. Please read, get the facts so you can be successful and reach your goal. My food choices work for ME...with new understanding you too will find your food nitch.
