My knee hurts like heck! Has anybody ever had a knee injury that just haunts you years later? I hurt mine playing basketball in Middle School (probably 12 years ago) and it seems like it has just gotten worse and worse. Granted, I never went to the dr for it because I'm one of those people who has to be FORCED to go to the dr lol. I always just wrapped it or wore one of those soft braces when it started hurting and in a week or two it would usually ease off. Well now it has gotten the worst it's ever been- it feels like part of my knee is rolling/grinding against another part. It aches and I can't cross my legs or sit in the same position for very long or I'm in serious pain. Has anybody had a knee problem similar to this? How was it treated? I don't want surgery and I'm so scared that if I go to the dr that's the first thing they're going to say!

absolutely!.. i broke my ankle when i was 11 (it was bad.. broke both bones in my ankle and dislocated my growth plate.. shudder)... well besides occasional discomfort i never really had any issues.. now that i'm an active jogger i have to wear an ankle brace b/c the pain can be excrutiating.. and that was almost 20 years ago!

I have knee problems too....they are horrible, I just went to the dr recently for mine, it hurt to walk, stairs especially, I couldn't squat down at all with out having trouble getting back up. Dr said it was patellar tendonitis. Gave me asteroid that worked great and I put ice on my knees a few times a day. I found heat helps too sometimes. I'm not one for drs or medication. I also found walking and good stretching helps A LOT. I thought walking would be bothersome but once I got the initial pain to subside I found it helped some in that area. I would try ice and stretching for sure. Sounds dumb....but worth a try :)

Thanks for your advice guys. I don't have a good brace right now so maybe that's the first step I need to take- invest in one and wear it as much as possible to get my knee stable. I guess I should go to the dr... but I hate to lol

I can relate with ankle issues as well just a few weeks ago I did nothing to aggravate it but I woke up to barley being able to walk on it. took a few days for it to go away but lots of elevation and icing and i can use it without pain. I hope it's just something like that with you!
