Shrinking Sonya's Journal, 03 November 2010

I had myself convinced not to expect a loss this week since I had lost so much last week. I figured I'd 'rebound' from last week and gain a couple this week. But NOPE! Thank GOD I lost 2 more lbs! I made good food choices all week, especially when it came to steering away from Halloween candy. We didn't even buy any at our house! We took the kids to a church Harvest festival and they got candy there. I told them to keep their candy in their bedroom and enjoy it a little at a time. They're old enough to actually do that lol. My stepkids are 16, 13, and 11 so they pretty much do the right thing when they're told... and sometimes without being told... it's nice. Anyway, I am PROUD of losing 2 lbs. It may not be some colossal number that impresses anyone but me, but it is progress, and that's the goal.

My family's doing a Thanksgiving Challenge to see who can reach the goal they've set for themselves. We started 6 weeks til Thanksgiving, so I set my goal to 20 lbs to lose by T-Day. So far I've lost 12! I only have to lose 8 lbs in 3 week. I can do that! Unfortunately, not everyone is on board with it lol. My whole family is overweight (not the kids... I'm talking about my parents, my brother & sis-in-law, and my sister). I want so badly for us to have a life-changing transformation, but I've come to realize one thing: I can't rely on them, only myself. I am going to be successful and complete what I've started, even if they don't. I can't get down or blame myself if they give up. No looking back, only moving forward! There's a Christian song written by Ricardo Sanchez who is Jentezen Franklin's worship pastor. The song says:

"I'm not going back, I'm moving ahead. I'm here to declare to you the past is over! In You, old things are made new. Surrendered my life to Christ, I'm moving, moving forward!"

That's gonna be my goal in my weight loss journey. Always moving foward. Not punishing myself if I have a bad week and not going back to the old habits. I'm a new creature in Christ and I think it's time for Christians to start taking care of their bodies the way God intended!
