ibcarriesmom's Journal, 16 August 2013

I found an old book from the 1990's - The Rotation Diet. I have never been one to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I began following this diet on Monday, 12 August, and, am eating the right kinds and proportions of food; make a daily journal; and doing some minor exercises. I am slowly losing weight and feeling the best I have felt in a long time. For the first time i can remember in my life, I am eating oranges; canteloupe; strawberries; and grapefruit - not just the juices from these fruits. I am also eating vegetables I have never eaten and enjoying them. Thankfully, my taste buds have changed. I feel, for the first time in my life, I am truly eating healthy, and, it is showing.

Way to go Brenda. Atkins isn't healthy overall. Too much fat. The proteing is good. The class I am going to said South Beach is better. I now believe we can lose eating some carbs as long as they are the right kinds and I do agree with Beth's nutritionist, eat protein when you eat carbs to balnce out and prevent the sugar spike.I am doing good now as long as I keep the junk out od the house and watch the eating out which is a killer. Hard to believe a salad can have so many calories. Alkso I have learned all broccoli out is not created equal. I have seen the calorie counts from different restaurants and it can vary form 35 calories to 150 a serving. Keep that line going down..

I think I agree about the healthyness of Atkins... At least the way many 'do it'. I think the real key to it is eating real food. Like the primal Blueprint folks say. I believe the processed foods have been my downfall and have led to my food addiction. I don't have an addicitve personality under normal circumstances but I am definately addicted to food. That said, following Atkins generally has been the best and healthiest way for me to eat. I would love to be able to do something like your Rotation Diet or even South Beach but for me, the sweetness of the fruits causes big problems. I did try South Beach once and it did not work for me mainly because there were too many choices. I am a believer that there is no one correct diet and we all have to figure out what works for us. Sadly, I am a fat person so nobody would ever listen to my theory as I apparantly contradict it :) But I say we heavier folks who struggle so hard year after year are possibly the ones who should be giving the advice and theories, we have been fighting the battles.

That's wonderful to hear Aunt Brenda! That is all you need to do, eat healthy, count calories and exercise. That's what I did to loose my weight. I don't believe in diets. Keep up the good work and you will keep seeing results!
