Today is a bad day...really don't think that my change in diet is working. I average about 1670 calories a day. I am supposed to be able to eat 2400 calories in a day. I average about 3773 calories burned in exercise and activities...but the scale moves the wrong way. It bounces up 2-3 pounds and then down 1-2 pounds. I weigh more now than I did the first week in May. Discouraging to say the least! Why am I doing this if it is not working????

So sorry to hear about your day. Have you thought of increasing your water intake? I drink about 3 liters = 12.5 ounces a day. I know it's excessive but it really does help! And once my body has gotten used to it ~ I actually have been craving it. Also, depending on your cycle it could simply be water weight. Perhaps check your salt and sugar intake. Staying with it and focused is the hardest part! I wish you well and hope today goes better. :)

Thank you Maggie! I will try adding more water...I thought of adding some diuretics to try to eliminate water weight. Thinking if I can see some results it will help me keep going.

I am so sorry you are feeling discouraged. I am having the same problem... I feel stuck.. My husband talked to me this morning about weighing myself everyday. That I need to stop.. once a week.. he says muscle weighs more than fat and my body is trying to burn fat as well as possible. Then it needs to even out, by weighing everyday I am just screwing with my mind! lol Stay the course and remember this is a life change not a crash diet. Once your body realizes your not starving it will began to burn correctly. This all sounds wonderful... BUT hard to swallow! I have finally got my calories up, using slimfast as a supplement for when I can't handle food. And WATER! Hoping my next weigh in (Saturday)I will see the difference. Stay strong... if it was easy we would all be a size 6:)

Hang in there K! It does take time for our bodies to adjust and I know I'm not as young as I was so my body reacts differently these days. You are getting good advice when people say add the water and lots of it. Makes a world of difference! As far as your RDI, I had to decrease mine too for the scales to drop. I think they had me at 2000 and I changed mine to 1200 and have some days I shoot for no more than 500. Shoot for it, but not always hit it! :) I do weigh everyday, when I remember. It can play games with your mind when you fluctuate. Part of the human body I guess because so many things can affect the scales but when I go up I tell myself it's temporary and then try to do better on calories/exercising. Temporary upswings are due to water weight, JITS (junk in the system), and the like. The benefit of water is that it pushes all that stuff out. Plus, it helps control hunger too! Don't give up! Failure is not when you can't get anywhere and want to give up. Failure is when you stop trying. We can do this!

Thanks Momx123 and Becky! I am trying to hang in there...today I have drank 3-20 oz bottles of water. I feel like I am going to float away. If I weigh a lot tonight it will be all water weight! I have only consumed 780 calories up to supper time. Since we have a funeral visitation tonight I don't think I will be tempted to eat much more. Besides I am so full of water I am not hungry...

after talking with husband on way home from visitation I have come up with new plan. He agreed that more water is better. I have drank 4 20 oz bottles of water so far today. That is 80 oz water. I have a new goal calorie count. That is taking my goal weight 160 x 10= 1600 calories a day with much more water. That means cutting back on some more calories...but with the water I think it will be doable. I ate after the visitation but still kept my calories under 1600 for the day.
