Donna Mashburn's Journal, 14 February 2020

Well today I got on the scale and made it back to 174.8... It took a week to get back down there. My stomach has been a mess. Everything I ate seemed to hang around for the whole day. Nauseous; uncomfortable; acid reflux. Finally got started on probiotics again and things have slowly started to settle down. Have not felt up to working out.

My world has been jerked around this week for other reasons as well. Tuesday we had to put our dear old dog to sleep after a two year battle to keep her going. She has not been able to walk for over a year and a half. We carried her in a sling from room to room, to her food bowl, outside to potty, where ever she needed to go. It wasn't easy as she weighed 53 pounds. My husband has gotten to where he struggled to move her as he has arthitis in his shoulders and knees and I was afraid he was going to hurt himself trying to care for her when I was at work. To make the decision harder was the fact she was totally alert and with it; everything worked fine on her except her legs. She ate and was interested in life in every way. So we continued to include her in all that we did--boat rides, car rides, time outside in the sunshine. But the struggle was becoming genuine for us. So this week, we made our decision. It is one of the most painful things I'll ever have done. We had the them administer the drugs to her while she was in the back seat of the truck where she had spent innumerable hours of her life traveling around with us. It was a good decision as she was totally at ease and comfortable there. Still, even with that, it is incredibly painful. My heart hurts.

So, given all that has come this week, I guess I'm doing alright. Time will make it all seem better. I'll get it back together and continue on.
