GlennM's Journal, 23 April 2008

The past two weeks the weather has been wonderful in western Massachusetts - mostly 70s and 80s - today it's 85 degrees. Unfortunately, once the weather warmed up I was going to start walking but a problem arose and now I have really bad allergies. Last autumn they started; and now as everything is blooming I'm suddenly ill with itchy ears, eyes and congestion in my nose and I'm drowsy and I have a cough with clear mucus - it's not a cold. It has been nearly a week now so not much exercising is getting done. I saw a doctor last week. I'm taking Loratadine daily and cough syrup. (Just when I plateau and need to get out and can exercise in the nice weather!). Take care everyone - I'm still here but busy lately. Writing in the evening while I watch the Red Sox and listening to music - volume off on TV and closed captioning on. Still following diet! :)

Keep it up, Glenn. We all have ups and downs. Maybe the gym is the best option for you. I too suffer from seasonal (ok, year-round) allergies, so I know how annoying it can be. I use saline nasal spray twice a day which really helps. I used to take Zyrtec but it made me feel fuzzy-brained so I prefer to have the allergies. I hope you find a way to cope with them. Good to see you! :)

Thanks sara for the advice with the saline nasal spray - I was going to go to the VA hospital tomorrow but I think I'll go to the store and try that stuff first as I have to get more cough syrup anyway! I'll try to get on here more often as it is nice to read everyone's posts even though I'm busy. :)
