I ran a mile this morning! I forgot how much I really enjoyed running...I love that feeling that sticks with you afterwards. I'm kind of nervous though, this jan/feb I'm visiting in-laws up in the midwest and there'll be snow (no snow by me, so it's easy to get out and run everyday). I just don't want to lose all the hard work I'll be putting into my running.

When you come to the midwest, bring your long workout pants and a long sleeve shirt. Get a fleece hoodie with pockets to put your phone and gloves when you have to take them off because you get too hot. If it is in the teens or below get a dickie to pull up over your mouth and nose if needed. Sunglasses, water and you are good to go. Most of the streets and some of the sidewalks are plowed but if not just walk fast instead of running. :) You will love it for a change of pace.

Good for you on getting back into running!! I'm struggling right now getting back into my daily workouts, so I'm going to use you as inspiration. I'm sure when you visit the in-laws you'll do fine. I've heard the midwest is supposed to have a somewhat dry winter, so you may be okay when you go, just chilly.

Congratulations Sea! I remember when I ran my first mile, back at the beginning of August - I couldn't BELIEVE it. I absolutely love running, it has changed my life, and that is no joke. My cousin wants me to do this December 5K that's supposed to be super cold, so I will be buying some compression tights and a hoodie. I do most of my running on the treadmill at the gym, so I only go outside to run for races. I am looking forward to this next one, it will be my 2nd 5K. I am sure you will find a way to run in the cold if that's what makes you feel good. You'll be fine - I live in the Midwest, in Kansas in particular, and people run here year round - though some more hard core than others when it's 15 degrees out!

Thanks guys! I can't wait until running becomes a bit easier....I watch those runners that have been doing it forever and they seems like they could run all day without stopping....I'll definitely look into getting those clothes for winter. I grew up in mn and lived in ny so I know cold lol and I'm not a fan.
