Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 18 October 2012

I'm still at 161. It seems like I may finally be leaving the 160's behind very soon! I'm motivated, I'm determined, I'm ready to take a hammer to my scale if it doesn't keep going down, and I'm going to be in the 150's by November.

I added 300 crunches to my day yesterday. Whenever I would go upstairs at work I would do 100 at a time. The guy in the office next to me is probably wondering what all the panting is about. But... I got to thinking and if hubby's body is any clue I don't think I get much ab work from chores.. just saying.. He's been a farmer his whole life and we were comparing bellies when I was pregnant. Plus I have baby fat to get rid of so I can fit into those size 12s. That and.. when hubby comes up behind me to hug me his hands always land on the baby fat. Seriously! Feel lower man! It's flatter and sexier.. Or go higher! They're bigger and rounder! But noooooo I'm short and he's tall so the hands always land on the baby fat. I wonder if he would notice if I tried ducking down a little whenever he tries to hug me. I've got to get my cheap thrills where I can.

Now I just have to work on eating a little cleaner. This week I've been going the sandwich route to avoid fast food and to save time and money. What it isn't saving is my weight loss. All that bread can't be good. So friday I'm going to stock up on veggies and make actual meals to bring to work next week. Plus.. if I have something to grab that's healthy over the weekend I'm hoping I can avoid all the crap hubby and 8 yr old have in the house. I'm not sure how he does it but Hubby has Ben and Jerry's cinnamon swirl ice cream, cinnabon cookies, double stuffed oreos, thin mint lookin things, and those pumpkin candies. They've been in the house since last Friday. Personally.. I got ice cream and it lasted one day in the house. The man has resistance. I only have resistance if it isn't mine. I think he's started to notice though... he tried feeding me a cookie last night and I threatened to bite his thumb if he kept waving it in front of me.

I've been working on my abs too. If you search on line you can a lot of ab exercises that can be done standing and/or sitting. These may be easier for you to do at work - and they do exercise your abs (as mine are so sore right now)!

My husband can ration out treats to let them last all week. I don't know how they stop themselves. There was a comedian who commented on how to make women uncomfortable-is to go over to a woman who is sitting down and put your arms around her and make sure you feel her stomach roll. That comedian has a death wish!

DH gets me just as I finally relax in bed on my side and there comes the hand - right on my belly roll...holy moly... Say, DFW do you like salads for lunch. I buy the spring mix or whateve that is already cut and washed, add some precooked chicken breast, cut up apple that I put a 1/4 of a lemon in the zip lock with so it doesn't get too brown, gorgonzola, a few dried cranberries and pecans that come in those little packages they sell in the produce aisle with Simply Dressed Pomegranate dressing. It is a very satisfying lunch and with the few "treats" mixed in I'm happy. I make it all the night before so I just grab and go like left over dinners. I guess I could have said go check out my lunch entrys. :)

Jess, on the planks do you keep you butt down flat or do you raise it up? How long should we hold and how many?

Neptunedbch: BUTT DOWN!!! LOL..that is what my Pilates instructor yells the whole time we plank!! She says if you want yout butt up then come to yoga and we do a lot of Downward Facing Dogs! As for time, start out w/15 sec and move on from there. When starting out watch your back, if it starts to arch come out of your plank. And do a childs pose after to be good to your back. As JessWhatINeed says, they are awesome for your core! In class we are up to two minutes; make that more like 10min if you add in whine time!!

Rubie-Sue thanks! I can do one minute and 15 secs. Butt down! I will have to strive for 2 mins. Of course I am counting cuz you can't see the clock. Maybe I'm counting a little too fast!! LOL
