Had a wonderful family breakfast...just ate a bit later than normal. Hubby and son are going out and I am taking my daughter for an outting. We are going to lunch (probably a nice salad for me), maybe get her nails done (she wasn't invited to her senior prom which was last night), and maybe shopping. It is a beautiful day out (sorry Jill for your rain, thought it is good for the plants!). Looking forward to some precious time with my daughter....all too soon to be gone in the Air Force!

Hey Suzie - (if you don't mind if I ask) - how is her attitude about not going to her senior prom? I didn't go to mine either - and always felt like I missed out on something. By the time my daughter was a senior life had changed - A LOT! Her and a small group of her girlfriends (none of which had a regular / steady boyfriend) made their plans and all went together! 5 of them!! Rented a limo - hair, make up, nails, ...the works! And headed off as a group. Once there - they said they had the BEST time ever - there were small groups of guys that went single as well - and they danced with them, with each other, etc.., etc.. She is a little bit a social butterfly - but not bad - and I was really impressed to see her so independent at such a young age. Hope your daughter stayed home by choice! I know it is culturally a little different in different parts of the country - down south there is more pressure to be "taken" to the prom on a "date" - that's the only reason I'm asking...

I don't mind you asking. She went last year as a junior with a date. She was ok with not going this year, so she says. All of her guy friends already have girlfriends. We had actually bought her dress for prom back in December, and I think it was more sad for me. Only one other of her friends didn't go. Shw was going to go to an after prom party, but her friend who she was going with called her at midnight and backed out... said she was going to a different party and didn't invite her. Again, I was probably the one more hurt for her about it. So today, we had a special day and bought her graduation gift...a computer. We had tried to get her and her friend who wasnt going just to go together but they didn't want to...said prom isn't like that...some of the other dances yes, but not prom. I didn't go to my prom either...only to the "fake prom" where they took pictures for the yearbook. The kids on yearbook were the ones who went. I felt like I missed out as well. Was gonna take her to get her nails done today, but they closed just as we walked up.... guess we will tomorrow!

What a sweet mom you are :) Enjoy these last few months with her home under your roof...it all goes so fast. I know everyone says that, but way too fast!!! Is she your oldest. My daughter is turning 25 in a few short weeks, have a son 22 1/2, and my youngest son is 16! (maybe grandbabies are in my future :))) but I am not rushing them, honestly). Love.
