Pstansel's Journal, 25 April 2010

Depressed. I was so good on vacation, and really felt like I was rocking it. I'd lost so much so far on induction I figured 4 days away and I would have lost another few. Instead it seems like I held steady :(. I know I shouldn't flip. It's so hard though not to expect to see results given what I have left to concur. Grrrr, I promised myself I wouldn't do this!

hey paul, no need to get down on yourself over holding steady. just read your profile - and so glad to hear you are getting things back under control for your own sake, and the health and well being of your two kids! (children are always watching). I'm no expert but here's my two cents worth - you mentioned you have "done" Atkins several times before...well, apparently not. Because if you had "done" Atkins you would still be ON Atkins as a way of eating. For me, that is the key! You need to figure out how to get enough calories (yours look too low) and still keep your carbs down during induction. The education you give yourself during this time will be invaluable to you over the rest of your life. Later on when you move to OWL, and adding back in additional carbs, you will maintain your foundation, and go extremely slow - listening to your body's responses to how it reacts to the different categories of carbs each time. Some you'll be able to keep, others you'll probably never eat again - but then I bet there are foods you never eat now...(I don't eat liver, never have, never will.) The point is your progess will start out strong. Then it will start to slow. Then it will continue - slowly. As long as you are remaining in the lowest carb area of 20 Total carbs, and keeping your system rev'd up 5-6 times a day, and maintaining your water intake, and testing for ketosis so you know what is going on - you just have nothing but time on your hands to get all the info you need to keep you going! You really are doing an awesome job! Keep it up!
