Goal Weight
145.0 lb
Still to go: 60.0 lb
I'm a recently married transplant to Madison, WI with a serious need to lose some of life's onerous pounds. I just turned 30 years old which means I can still recall fondly the days where dropping weight was as easy as hitting the gym 30 minutes a day. But Game Over now! Married life has found its stride alongside a career keeping me out of the house 10-14 hours a day, a rather erratic work schedule, and no time to get to the gym or into the kitchen to cook.

But no excuses! The end goal is 55 pounds in one year, broken into smaller time points.

Goal 1: 190 pounds
Goal 2: 175 pounds
Goal 3: 160 pounds
Goal 4: 145 pounds

What to snack on when reading a book or watching a movie?
Slice up an apple or other piece of fruit. My go-to is watermelon. If it's salt you're craving, sliced jicama with salt and a little cayenne or cajun seasoning will help that. It tastes a bit like what a potato chip would be if it were actually good for you. You can also use this method to get your veggie/fruit servings in for the day.

Size Matters?
I have hips and a butt. At my smallest, I was a size 2, but that was pre-hips and about 12 years ago. A few years back, I achieved size 6 and I think that's doable again someday. However, I'd be thrilled with size 10. My husband doesn't want to see me too skinny.

Scales
I just bought this scale in the black/chrome finish to match my kitchen and it's fantastic! I wish it had a tray to weigh out portions before putting them on my dinner plate, but I just grab an old tupperware container and tare. an extra dish to wash is a small price to pay for eating correct portions!

What do I put down??
I actually enter the recipe into the nutrition calculator at http://recipenutrition.com/RWplacement.aspx and it breaks the nutritional content down into way more info than you ever wanted to know. From there, I just add a new entry into the fat secret database and then add it to my food diary. It's a lot of steps sometimes, but when you love to make your food from scratch, it's what you've gotta do to keep yourself honest.

Need some support by way of advice
The good news is that during the week, I don't have too much trouble with lack of energy. Or rather, I don't have time to think about it.

I suppose that weekends are when I'm most likely to overload on carbs. Weekends are supposed to be restful but maybe I should just treat them more like the workdays wherein I don't have enough time to indulge.
