Hey FS community! I'm an upper-50s husband, father of 4 amazing young women and grandfather (papa) of 3. Professionally, I'm a software engineer/application architect in Bismarck, ND. Recreationally, I'm into 2 different niche sports - Disc Golf when I can get outdoors and Foosball when I have to be indoors. Spiritually, I'm a Christian with no denomination affiliation.

I tend to over-complicate things, so I have to constantly remind myself to keep it simple. My WOE is to limit carbs to less than 100g per day. Period. Then I just add some daily movement to that as well - walking or d-golfing. Same for my faith...there's grace for imperfect theology, so I just try to love God and love my neighbor. And disc golf...throw and have fun.

I first used FS in 2012 to lose 60 pounds and drop down to the mid-230s. Years later, and after several months of lockdown feasting during the pandemic, I ate my way back up to 287. So a week before Thanksgiving 2020, I jumped back on to FS to start my latest weight loss journey.

In addition to my WOE and daily movement, I needed some emotional support during this time as well, which was provided by a fantastic Eating Psychology Coach - my wife. Periodic sessions with her were necessary to work through all of that stuff that keeps me turning to food for comfort.

While I'm looking forward to completing this part of the journey, I'm keenly aware that I'm going to have to remain vigilant and stick with a plan of some sort or I'll end up next year near 300 pounds. Figuring out what that is going to look like is my next challenge.
