I am a 27 year old tech support desk jockey living in Baltimore, Maryland with my girlfriend, 2 dogs, and innumerable cats and kittens (she fosters the felines.) I finally put a new battery in my bathroom scale and got a wakeup call. I weighed 347 lbs. That is about 17 lbs more than I was expecting and dangerously close to yet another landmark weight in the wrong direction. I decided right there that I would start being a responsible person and tracking all the food I eat. I found fatsecret's calorie counter application on my Android phone and realized that there is a great community here! I am trying to lose weight by eating like the person I WANT to be and seeing where it takes me. I am using bits and pieces of a bunch of different lifestyle change plans with a big focus on the Hacker's Diet and Body for Life. I'm not giving up on any of my favorite foods, just treating them like what they are: hi calorie treats that should not be abused.

need ideas to "spice" up veggies
I've used them some, I usually like to put a tiny bit of butter (real stuff keeps your metabolism churning correctly) and some fresh black pepper and something acidic (lemon juice, vinegar etc.) in with and I always cook a little longer than it says on the bag.

Have fun with those things!

For brocolli I usally steam them with lemon juice, pepper and coarse salt then saute over medium heat in a dry cast iron (or non stick) pan until they are a little less limp Smile

Anyone need to lose over 100LBS???
I'm in the club too; I have about 140 or so to lose. I am doing it with help from the hacker's diet, which is weight loss and life fitness from a logical perspective. I am keeping a food diary on my smart phone and that really helps keep me motivated because it tracks my calories as I go! One day I want to be part of a search and rescue team, so that is another helpful goal to keep in mind. Keep eating right!
