Since I was a teenager one of my worst habits was stopping at the local gas station to by a fountain soda. For some reason a fountain soda in one of those styrafoam cups just always seemed to taste better, and they always had cherry and vanilla syrup for them. At one point I was up to 5 or 6 32oz sodas a day. I gave up the sodas about 4 months ago, but I still had an unquenchable thirst. I work 45 miles away from my home, so a good chunk of the day I spend in my car! I needed something that was portable and not going to spill! So even though I gave up the soda, I was still stopping to buy a chocolate milk, a bottle of Sweet Tea, a Powerade, or bottle of water. I noticed though, that I couldn't completely forgo the sodas. At least twice a week, I would fall off of the soda wagon. Not to mention that sports drinks, chocolate milk and tea all have as many calories if not more than soda! Also, I was spending a small fortune in convenience drinks. Now I have a solution!!! I keep a case of water in my car. At this time of year, they don't freeze, but they stay ice cold! When it is a little warmer, and the water is too warm to drink, I stop at that same gas station and pay 15 cents for that styrofoam cup of ice!! Now I go through 5 or 6 bottles of water a day, but it is sooo much better for me physically and financially!!!

Ok, so I thought doing this with a friend would be better! Having that accountability and all! But its a little discouraging at the same time, we both started really doing this yesterday. And wouldn't you know she calls me this morning, and said "I lost 2 lbs already!!" Granted, if she has it was probably water loss, nobody burns 2 lbs of fat in 24 hours. It was just that thing, where she already lost weight and I haven't what's wrong!! It also doesn't help that she only has to lose 20 lbs and I have to lose 60!!

On a different note, does anybody have the problem that when they start a diet, that your mind registers that word DIET as a four letter word. So the next thing you know, all you want to do is EAT all day long? On a normal not so healthy day I could eat lunch and probably forget to eat the rest of the day! (Ok, so there were days I did eat more and it was junk food) Now, I eat breakfast and then think about food and what I'm going to eat next all day!

The good thing is that I thought about food, didn't actually eat it. I stayed on track, and have decided I'm not going to weigh myself until Saturday!! If I weighed myself now and not lost any weight, I'm afraid I would give up!

Breakfast -- Low fat Montery Jack Cheese -- running late and didn't have time to cook

Lunch -- Baked Chicken with tomatoes and low fat mozzerella cheese

Dinner -- Same as lunch

Snacks -- Cashews and Cheese, and 1/2 a serving of pumpkin treat!

Am I eating too much dairy?

So at 31 years old, I know I need to lose about 60 lbs. The last 5 years or so has taken its toll on my body. I had always been an active and sports loving person. I also had a great metabolism, I could eat what I wanted and physically do anything!! Reese's for breakfast and icecream for dinner were a standard, and I always was about 10-15 lbs UNDERweight. Four and Five hours a day of sometype of strenuous exercise, basketball, running, track, dancing; I always had to be doing something.

A little over 5 years ago, I started getting sick. At first I thought it was just the flu, then I thought I had cancer or something horribly wrong (I tend to be a little pessimistic). My doctor couldn't find anything wrong, so after about 4 months he sent me to a specialist. Come to find out I have Crohn's disease and would need to start a medication regimen. The regimen, included over 100 mg of prednisone, a type of steroid, a day for the next 2 years.

Prednisone is not your weight lifter's steroid. No muscle definition or anything like that. It's main side effects, are water retention, increased appetite, mood swings, and joint pain. So not only was I hungry enough to eat 2 and 3 times more than what I used to. My joints were so sore and swollen I could barely walk up the stairs to my office, let alone run the 4 miles a day I was used to. Over the next 2 years I would gain 50 lbs. I had never weighed over 100 lbs and all of a sudden, I was at 150.

Add to the mix a couple of messy breakups, financial trouble, and stress of going to school full time and working full time, I weighed myself a few months ago and I weighed 178 lbs at 5 foot tall.

I have tried every diet imagineable, and have worked out 3 and 4 hours a day. I literally did not lose one lb. The one thing I haven't truely tried is SBD. My sweet tooth has always got in the way. I have recently kicked my huge soda habit, so I am trying it again! I started today. My plan is to do this for as long as it takes, Holiday season is rough, but (I will cheat Christmas day, but that's it) being able to wear a dress above my knees again will be worth it. I'm starting my exercising at 20 min a day, I haven't really done anything in about 4 months, so I want to ease back into it. HERE IT GOES!!!!
