I haven't been using Shangri-la. Unfortunately, I think it has mostly been Adderall. I take half the dose I was prescribed and it decreases my appetite. I don't take it every day and often the first day of not taking it feels about the same as when I am. After that, I usually have urges to eat when I'm not hungry. I am upping my participation on the Shrink Yourself team on Sparkpeople to help deal with that. I'm hoping I am not hurting my body. I've been doing a fair amount of dance, but not consistently working out in between. This is disappointing to me because I do have the time. I'm not sure what is going to make the change, but I am losing, so I'm trying not to freak out about it.

I don't remember what I am supposed to report on following closely or not, but I did the Sparkpeople swimsuit challenge this month and prepared for a basketball game and an African dance performance, so I was more active. I also joining the Liviing Binge Free team (esp. the 21-day binge free thread), so I have been more aware of my food and the desire to quit bingeing.

I still haven't gone back to the Shangri-La diet because I am still taking meds 5 days a week that cause appetite suppression. I will go off them this summer and will try the oil again then, if cravings are an issue.

I stopped using the Shagri-la Diet because I went back on a medication that is an appetite depressant. I don't love it, though, because the body seems to react to low calorie intake from lack of hunger the same way it does to more traditional calorie restriction. I'm not attracted to food while I'm taking it, but when I don't, and I don't like the idea of being on a medication 24/7 that does stuff to the body that wipes out even natural cylces of hunger. However, if I decide for other reasons to stop taking the meds, I am keeping the idea of this diet on the back burner.

I went off the deep end for a bit, way overeating. Then I started taking a medication for another condition. It also depresses my appetite. I'm actually not elated over that, as I have had similar experiences before. Not eating has a similar effect on the body, even when there is no hunger. It can be followed by intense urges to eat. I did try the oil and found that is was a decent appetite depressent. However, I need to try this medication for awhile. If it doesn't work out for its intended purpose, I will go back to the oil for appetite restriction. I plan on alternating by coin toss days targeting a low calorie count including the oil, and days with a higher allotment not using the oil, just so that my body doesn't adjust to the lower amount. I read that the originator eats only about 1,400 calories a day to maintain his weight. That sounds too low to me. Perhaps I'll never weigh what I think I should, even though it is not excessively low. but I am willing to keep experimenting because I have gotten to the point where I don't feel I HAVE to be thinner and where I feel that I am a failure when I can't stick to a program.
