Since I last checked in I have gained eight pounds. I wish I could get serious about losing some of this weight. I don't exercise and I know that is a lot of the problem. I have had to buy some bigger clothes as my husband's dad and my mom died this past fall and I had to get something to wear to the funerals. I need to get into a routine. Can someone help me?

Okay, up till now, I have not been serious enough. I want to lose some weight (about 25 lbs) but just can't seem to get motivated enough. I have been on the treadmill about three times in the last three weeks. The weather has been too goofy to walk outside. I need to get down and do some heavy exercising. I have gained the excess weight on my stomach and hips and that makes it difficult to wear most of my clothes, but I refuse to buy a larger size. I had hoped that would give me enough motivation, but so far not as much as I had hoped.
I quit smoking 17 months ago and since then I eat more even when I am not hungry. I retired last July and over the winter, I sat on my butt more. I need to change to a different diet and work like heck to stick to it. If anyone has any good ideas, please let me know. I am 63 and I know that at my age, weight is harder to lose. But I do not want to be a statistic.
