So I got off work and stopped at the store to pick up a few things...decided to try to make a breakfast porridge. I used steel cut oats, an apple (diced - and I left the skins on because they don't bother me - kids probably wouldn't like it though), ground up some almonds....good so far....then I made the mistake of putting the flax seed and psyllium husk in with it. Very bad idea. It turned into a huge gelatinous mass. I threw in some cinnamon and sugar to try to make it more appealing. I ate it regardless. It's worth another shot, but I think I'll leave the flax and psyllium out and maybe try putting it on top next time. Anyone have any recipes similar to this? Any ideas to make it better? Thanks!

Started 3 days ago to keep cholesterol intake to 100 mg a day. This is a challenge. I love cheese!!! Meat portions are very small compared to what I was eating. Blah! It's going to take a while, but I have to do this. I don't want to follow my father down the heart attack route.
Right now my total cholesterol is 217. 54 is the good, and that needs to go up. I've gotten some coconut milk (which is great to fix rice with), but not so good on cereal....Also have coconut oil, which I put in my coffee, with skim milk. Those are just a couple things I'm trying to do.
Anyone have anything that has worked? How hard was it to make routine? I'm open to suggestions or ideas! Thanks for reading this.
