I went to a mall food court over the weekend and ordered a greek souvlaki dinner, as I have done so many times before. This time around, I ate the meat and salad first (without having to tell myself to do this!). I ate half the rice and only 1 piece of the roasted potatoes (my former favourite!).
Having eaten half the carbs I would have, I was already keeling over from being so full. My eyes are still bigger than my stomach, but I am learning about where my new "line" is and when to stop.
Yesterday was the annual BBQ at work...and I've never been one for self-restraint. However, over the last 8 weeks, I have noticed that I have come a long way. I've stuck to my diet as close to a T as possible, allowing birthday parties and dare I say CAKE!
I ate a hamburger WITH the bun (as I contemplated skipping it), salad, an apple, an ice cream cone, and yes, even a little bit of cotton candy. I had enough calories left over for a reasonable dinner with a bubble tea for dessert! Although the bubble tea put me over my daily goal by 50 calories, I figured it wasn't that bad a loss considering I ate "junk" all day long!
Everything in moderation. I now know that I can have everything...just little bits at a time. :)

Weighing in today at 279 lbs....the first time I've been below 280 in a year! I still have a long way to go, but I'm making moves and taking strides towards my goal!
I no longer WANT to eat all the bad stuff I can think of. I know that when I do have a treat, I need to balance it with the rest of my diet for the day (or week) in addition to moderate exercise!
Losing weight, eating right, and feeling great!
Now, time to face the next milestone!
