Hi,
I took time off from exercising and watching my diet. In 6 months I gained over 30 lbs. I started at 180 lbs, and ballooned to 205 lbs. I wasn't able to fit into my pants anymore. This prompted me to change my priorities.
I've been back at the gym for 1 month now. I've lost 7 lbs (down to 198 lbs from 205 lbs). I'm hoping to lose 30 lbs in 4 months. That's 7.5 lbs per month (or 1.875 lbs per week). I have to burn 6562.5 extra calories per week, or 937.5 calories per day. My workout is only 45 minutes long. I lose 250 calories doing cardio. That leaves me 687.5 calories. I use weights for 30 minutes, which is another 150 calories lost, leaving 537.5 calories I need to remove from my diet.
In terms of my diet, my breakfast is 2 cups of milk and 2 cups of granola and one banana. Total caloric intake for breakfast is about 400 calories.
I don't eat lunch, and have a smoothie for dinner (smoothie is roughly 400 calories) as well as some other snacks (400 calories). Given that I work a seditary job, I only burn 1800 calories/day).
1800-400(breakfast)-400(dinner)-400(snacks)= 600 calories deficit. I needed 536.5, so I'm very close to my target.
As long as I continue this way, I should be able to lose 30 lbs in 4 months.
My goal weight is 175 lbs.
Wish me luck. :)

Hi,
I just started kickboxing sessions. This has really boosted my metabolism. I've lost nearly 4 pant sizes, while bulking up my shoulders, arms and back.
The real key is to do some kickass cardio workouts that really work the leg muscles. I was at a plateau, and couldn't pass the 190lbs mark.
But, now with the kickboxing prep warmup routine, as well as sticking to a regular 35 minute cardio workout, I'm starting to see amazing results.
I hope to get down to 180lbs before I go on vacation in 11 days. I'm estimating that I will need to lose 1018 calories a day in order to lose 3.2lbs (based on 3500 calores for 1 lb of fat).
Wish me luck.

I've found that working out makes you lose inches, not weight. You often gain weight, because muscle weighs more than fat. For instance, I know I'm losing some weight, but when I weigh myself, I'm still about 194 lbs.

Muscle weighs more than fat. I've been exercising nearly every day, but my weight stays around 200 lbs. My hope is that I can slim down a bit (like 10-20 lbs) so that I can start to see more definition. My biggest problem is that I hate cardio, and I love sugar/chocolate and high carb meals.
My goals are:
1. Figure out how to enjoy and love cardio
2. Figure out how to not be sucked in to eating sweets (cookies/cake/etc.)
3. Figure out how to stay away from high carb foods (bread/pasta/hamburgers/etc.)
:)
