If your wife/husband/partner bakes up a storm, get rid of the muffins/cookies/etc. as soon as possible, as she is more interested in cooking than eating the junk food. Whatever you do, DON'T GIVE IN to TEMPTATION. Just keep thinking of how you'll look fitting into your swimsuit.

Again. Going out for dinner tends to provide too many opportunities to indulge. I think I didn't get past the 185 lb mark because I ate out a couple of times. Pigging out while at a restaurant is easy, because the portions are so huge and the food is so rich. By "rich" I mean rich in that delicious "fatty" goodness...often linked to calorie rich fats such as butter. Even with expanding my workout to 29 minutes of cardio and about 1 hour or weights 5 days a week, a simple night out to eat sets me back a couple of days. Try two or three dinners out, and that's about a week and half to two weeks to catchup.
I even tried having a smoothie before going out so I felt full. That didn't even stop me from stuffing myself. Lesson learned: just order the bloody salad and be done with it. Or better yet...don't eat out period...until you are at your goal weight.

It's inevitable that you will be invited to eat a meal in a restaurant. The best thing you can do is to stay away from high calorie and fatty foods, like fries, chips, etc.
But that's not all. Restaurant food is notoriously rich, making it hard to order something that's nutritious and yet doesn't expand your wasteline.
When I look at rich restaurant food, I keep imagining in my mind how many days this meal would put me back. 1 day, 2 days, maybe even a week. I've found that a high calorie rich meal at a restaurant can (on average) puts your weight goals back by a minimum of 3-5 workout days. Since most people workout 4-6 times a week (for weight loss), this means you will plateau (or even go backwards) for at least 1 week. Stepping onto a scale after a full week of working out and watching your diet, only to find that you haven't lost a single ounce is a kicker. This sucks!!! So, my attitude towards eating out has changed. I'm very much against it while I'm trying to shed weight.

Have a wedding to attend to on Saturday. I hear that it will be a 13 course meal. I'm dreading this since I'm working hard to reach my goal weight of 170 lbs, and this will probably screw me up for a week. Also, I'm starting a Thursday night group, which means I will have to work out on either Fri, Sat or Sun. Not looking forward to this disruption in my routine. On the up side, I've increased the length of my workout to approximately 1 hr.

Hi,
I'm doing quite well. I've lost about 10 lbs since I first started to exercise and watch my diet.
I have about 24 lbs to go.
