I knew I had to change when I went to the mountains for a week with my kids. It was great and pathetic at the same time. Wonderful fresh snow, completely snowed in, a winter wonderland. We ski, the kids and I ski, except over this past Christmas week in the mountains, I was a slug, slothful. We rode snowmobiles around the yard, had snowball fights, played games, but never once in 8 days hit the slopes. I had every excuse, I was tired, the crowds were too great, even when family called to ski I had an excuse. It was truely pathetic. I was worried that i would get hurt.....Enough became enough. I used to joke about my height to weight ratio being out of whack, but this week was pathetic. I am looking forward to dropping 50-60 lbs quickly and getting back in shape on on my skis, bike, rollerblades.
The program I have joined is for rapid weight loss for people who are willing to go on a food vacation for a period of time. Guys lose weight on average about 5 lbs per week, women about 3 lbs per week. as you can see. I have been above average over the past 5 weeks. I guess I just made up my mind to do this. Losing the weight is the easiest part. Say tuned to the time when i go into Transition (4 weeks) when I get back to eating.

Game on!

One night of sin
I think the cheat days are just a fact of life, we all have had it happen. the question is do I kick my own arz for a few days and wallow in self pity or get up dust off and resume what I had started. I guess its all about how you react, right? too many of the fs members are caught up in black and white, success/failure that unfortunately includes Failure defined as a cheat day!!!!!!!!!!!!! LiveThin
lets talk about why we are eating. I have been thinking about real hunger, and feel better hunger. Growing up I believe everyone on this website was given a treat when we got hurt, or were injured in some way by mom and/or dad. I remember that and it usually was to make me feel better. Back then it was no big deal, because it really never effected my weight and the emotional impact of the pain/injury quickly passed. As things change for us, growing into our adult years, this behavior alot of times has stayed the same. The problem that developed is that food had become a treat to make me feel better, or celebrate something great.........pretty much used in high moods, low moods or bored moods. Go to the Fridge, get a treat; Go to the pantry get a treat. and ON and ON and ON. the height to weight ratio ballooned over the years as a result. This program that I am on has made me realize a few things. 1. I can survive on 600-700 calories today, for a time necessary to lose weight...obtain my weight goal. 2. "I can do this" I have been pretty dilligent at keeping on the program and as a result have dropped over 40 lbs. With another 10-15 to go, i have begun to focus on eating the right kinds of food, with the right kinds of dressings, sauces and seasons during food prep. 3. I am pretty fired up about this as I don't see a large change in what I will begin to eat when I return from my vacation from food..........the way I look at it, is all in the preparation, its all about educating myself and choosing to LiveThin.

down 3.2 lbs this week
This vacation from food has been challenging. it ends up being a pretty simple process however, after the first week of difficulty. Since this is a medical program, we are meeting weekly. Tonight was a tough night with alot of conversation regarding desire for real food and everyone getting sick and tired of the shakes. Its working for me because I am impatient and want to get down to my goal weight and get to transition back on to food. I wish I could say that I have been perfect on this, but I cannot. What has saved me is the water and keeping calories below 900/day.

from 250 to 210 in 5 weeks.
its nuts, I know. but i found the Metabolic Nutrition Program here in NorCal and after about 8 months of studying, questioning and investigating the program (a buddy did it and lost 60lbs and has kept it off for 1.5 yrs). I took the plunge. Its doctor directed, its exams, blood draws and full exams every two weeks to monitor progress. I found FC a few days ago and decided to join. I will weigh in Tomorrow, the 15th and give an update. was down 34 lbs in 4 weeks. Granted i am on a "vacation from food" ingesting 135 calorie shakes 5 to 7 per day. A whole lotta water too. I am impacient and this "fast" is the easy part. When I get to 200, I transition back to food. This site is fantastic because it has the food necessary to formulate a weight maintenance plan.
