Whew! It's been a wild of couple of weeks. Since I've last posted, things have been quite hectic in my life. Nevertheless, I'm still losing weight, although a bit slowly. But that's OK -- just like I mentioned to a fellow Atkins fastsecret member, this isn't about a race of losing weight fast. My main focus is health improvement, and weight loss is just going to be the side benefits. By the way, last week I received my blood work results from my doctor, and it showed EVERYTHING as normal. Yeah! That means my blood pressure, A1c, blood cholesterol, liver, kidney function, and all other tests came out in the normal range. My doctor told me to keep up the good work. The only slight improvements I can make is in my HDL, the good cholesterol; it was a bit low. And I know why it was a bit low, because I was avoiding eating nuts and not using enough olive oil in my cooking. The last time I had my blood work done, my HDL was high, mainly because I was having an almond nut feast! But I stopped eating nuts in concern that it could slow my weight loss down. But since receiving my recent test results, I've been incorporating a bit of nuts in my diet, and it seems to not be hindering my weight loss. So I discover it's more about having a "small portion" of nuts. But for me, that has been difficult, because I LOVE almond, macadamia, and mixed nuts! Also, I stopped using canola oil and begun using exclusively extra virgin olive oil in ALL my cooking. Yes, even when cooking scrambled eggs. LOL Olive oil versus canola is more better for the heart anyway. Other than that, those were the only changes I've really made, because I'm still working out five days a week for 45 minutes at a time. Working out has been a great plus for me, but I did see the scale fluctuate a bit due to muscle gain. However, I'm not really concern because weight loss in inches is more telling than weight loss in pounds. And believe me, your loose clothing will tell all! ;-)
