I am a 36 year old single black female that has always had a weight problem. As far back as I can remember, I have always been heavier than the other kids my age. Limits were put on me because I was bigger but I always out did the limits. I had to prove that regardless of my size, I am a able to do the same things the other kids could do and sometimes better.

In high school I was in band and softball. I had a very active life despite of my weight. I maintained my weight throughout highschool and the first part of college. Later on in my life, I became less active and my weight began to pile on. My highest weight was 407 and I was diagnoised with diabetes. How did I get to this point in my life I wondered but knew the answer. I had to do something because if I didn't I was going to die. I did a few different diets from the nutrisystem to lemon diet, to going to a weight doctor who prescribed me suppressants pills. None of these diets worked for me. I did lose 76 lbs without any diet program because the diabetes had me drinking more than eating. I was happy that I lost the weight but was not happy on how I lost it.

I fluctuate between 332 and 342 right now. I am trying to regulate my diebetes with the ultimate goal of being rid of the disease all together. I have been researching the Atkins diet and reading the success stories about how wonderful this diet it. I heard about it years ago and was told that it was an unhealthy diet and shunned away from it. Now that it has been revised, I am very interested in giving it a try. I know of several people including my parents who have tried and lost weight on the Atkins diet. I see that will not only help me lose weight but manage my diabetes.

I am tired of the weight and ready for the challenge. I am going full speed ahead with this journey. I am excited and will stop being a couch potatoe and start being more active. This is my SEASON!
