I have Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder, grand mal epilepsy, GAD, Hypothyroidism, IBS-C, and Psoriasis. I take a lot of medications and supplements for my problems. Many of my problems are linked to high glutamate levels in the brain, an excitatory neurotransmitter, and auto-antibodies to the glutamic acid decarboxylase enzyme that converts glutamate to GABA.
Finding ecologically friendly ways to clean my apartment has been challenging. I now have a cleaning crew come in each month to help me maintain my apartment. I just do smaller jobs as needed between. I am learning how to hand wash my clothes as well so I do not need the laundromat so much. I was Confirmed in the Catholic Church on June 28, 2020 and now receive Communion at each Mass I attend. I also do a Confession every so often.
I am attending Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT. I take 2 classes a semester, 2 days a week. I am a junior looking for a B.S. in Sustainability Science and Environmental Policy. I have a Gateway GPA of 3.63. I have a 3.80 GPA at SCSU and just got placed on the Dean's List for the College of Arts & Sciences for the second year in a row.I am taking my third and final ASL class in Spring.
I must avoid fructans and lactose since these FODMAPs, commonly found in garlic, onion and dairy products, are triggers for my bowel symptoms. I follow a very specific diet for my problems. I am interested in reducing the glutamates I eat as well. I found out all my father's cousins and siblings have epilepsy; it's a miracle he did not get it, too, but I did.
