Woke up last night with the sweats and the worst headache around 3am and felt queasy, so I went off to be by myself on my office day bed. I had a hard time getting back to sleep with my cats stomping on me and feeling so rotten. I started to wonder if I was coming down with the 'rona. But after an Excedrin for migraine, I started feeling well enough by 8am to function. Had to take my car to have the bumper tacked back on. The grommets had given out and it was flapping in the breeze. The nice body shop manager told me it was on the house, just bring it back to her when it was time for the full bumper replacement. She even refused cash to get the mechanics some donuts. I'll be back to them for sure.

Spent the next 4 hours at mom's while the contractor was working, then returned tonight to make sure she could get into her temporary bathtub without falling down. It is such an ordeal for her, but fortunately the nice contractor added some safety bars to make it possible. I've dealt with some very kind and generous people today. If everyone were like these folks, what a great world it would be.

Really sore today. Worked at mom's from about 11am until 7pm moving her into her spare bedroom so that her master bath can be renovated for a curbless shower. It was hard bc Mr C had an accident mid-afternoon trying to gather supplies from our shed and badly sprained his ankle so I had to redo mom's bed set-up alone. To get her bed lowered by about 4 inches meant I had to buy some 4-inch stones from Lowe's and tape towels around them to set her box springs on them instead of the existing metal bedframe. This was in the midst of a thunderstorm and their garden supplies are outdoors so that was fun. Those 8 stones are 24 lbs each so it was hard getting them in mom's house. Not much for a weightlifter, but not easy for an out-of-shape 63 yr old. Then I had to wrestle the queen mattress and box springs into place by myself without knocking over other stuff in her bedroom. I'm concerned about mom adapting to her smaller guest bath for now but I guess we'll see how that goes. She'll probably be in a bad mood today as construction prep starts. Mr C is on a walker for now but he can drive since it was his left leg. I have to say this kind of physical exertion takes more of a toll on you after you get into your 60s.

I ate 100 peanut butter M&Ms yesterday and pizza. I asked Mr C to guess how M&Ms I had and he said 41, thinking that he would be overestimating. Ha. Never underestimate a hardcore candy junkie. I was listening to an NPR interview with a singer named Jason Isbell, talking about his alcohol addiction. My problem is the same -- once I start I have a hard time stopping -- except without the obvious devastating consequences. There will be consequences, but they will come later after I gain 40 pounds and go on diabetes meds. So I have to remember today how dizzy, bloated, jittery, and fatigued I felt after bingeing on sugar.

Somehow, I woke up feeling okay and managed a 1-mile walk with my dog. I'm being fairly productive this morning, and I know that if I can stay away from the candy, I'll continue to feel pretty good. I honestly don't know if I can resist.
