A1C: 5.7 That was a surprise given how much candy I eat daily. Nutritionist said to limit it to a small amount once a week. Drink at least 64 oz water daily and cut out the sodas and sweet tea. I picked up that habit of drinking cokes again and I'm not really that hooked. Keep an eye on sugar in yogurts and other processed foods. Nutritionist said it's ok to use sugar substitutes to avoid raising blood glucose.
I'm catching up on all the labs I avoided for the last 4 years. Waiting on mammogram results. Mild to moderate fatty liver. Bone density scan shows some osteopenia in pelvis. Need to schedule colonoscopy.
Doc said try to get by on one diclofenac daily. Start taking calcium supplements. Added low dose levothyroxine. Keep taking turmeric, vitamin D, multivitamin.
My goal today is to go back to the gym and restart strength training. The last time I went was probably a couple of weeks ago. Also need to start recording daily food intake again. Meals are more sporadic due to caregiving mom. Also husband has odd sleep schedule due to meds and we don't eat normal meals together so this will be challenging.

Maybe it's better to indulge in what you enjoy even if it leads to a premature death. A musician made that observation after his obese, chain-smoking father died in his 50s. I saw my own good friend refuse to give up cigarettes, and cancer killed her at 74. But she went out her way too. She loved smoking. What's so great about living so long that you wish you were dead? That's what I'm seeing with my mom at age 88. She lived a pretty health, active life and now arthritis and disabilities from accidents over the last year have made everything painful so she lives in a recliner with pillows all around her. She said she wishes she were dead, but her vital signs are better than people half her age. She will endure but she can't enjoy much of anything anymore. Sis and I had to get professional help to keep her at home full time, but we rearrange our lives to provide care half the time so mom won't run out of money. I'm filled with guilt because I miss my freedom and my old life and I do have some resentment. I know people who have said caring for their aged parents was a privilege and a joy. They are better people than I am.
All that to say I have been too tired/lazy to exercise and eat right since my last post May 2021. It would be nice to weigh about 20 pounds less but I don't need to live forever.

It is already stifling hot outside so at 7:45am didn't feel like walking more than a couple of blocks with my dog. Need to get up earlier, but I've been awake in bed until 11pm playing Animal Crossing since B gifted me with a Nintendo Switch for Christmas. Made my arrangements for my Cali trip in June so that's one less thing to worry about. Sis can take care of mom while I'm away.
Ate too much yesterday but the Greek chicken kabob with salad and basmati rice was worth it.

I did not eat candy yesterday for the first time in a while, but I did add brown sugar to my sweet potato and have a couple of sugar-laden yogurt products. I went on a longer than usual walk with my dog yesterday morning. I might do the same again this morning before it gets too hot. He survived a cancer surgery and chemo last year, poor lil guy. Anal gland tumor. But he seems to be doing pretty well for all that and being almost 12 now.

losing 11.2 lb a week

Got home around 6:30pm and was too tired to scrounge around for supper. So I brushed my teeth and went to bed. It's 7:45am so I haven't had a meal since 2:30pm yesterday. That sensation of gnawing hunger feels like a step in the right direction. It's better than feeling full and bloated.
