Over the last week, I watched BBC documentaries called - Too Fat to Toddle and Fast Food Babies. Our toddler is in a normal weight for her age and I want to keep it that way. I was overfed as a child and was really chubby. I was watching these docos because I want to raise her well, I don't want her to be obese like me. One of the things that struck me was when a doctor told a mum that her child had a BMI of 32 and if that was an adult, they would already a whole swag of health risks and issues. I looked up my BMI and it was 38!!! I realized then that it wasn't enough for me to feed my child well, I have to set the example.
But then the old despair hit. How am I ever going to succeed? I've just accepted over the past years that I'll always be a fat girl. Then I found another documentary called How to Be Slim. It was brilliant, they were helping a DJ lose weight using the latest studies. She had setbacks and issues I could relate to but in the end, she did lose a lot of weight.
One of the ways to get slim that was illustrated there is to keep track of what you eat. So I tried several apps until I found this site via lifehacker.com.au and it's amazing. Very easy to put in what you eat compared to other apps. After just one day of keeping track, I can see why this is helpful. It's a real eye opener how many calories I eat in a day.
