Fat Secret on the G1
Update: My G1 updated itself and I can now get the Calorie Counter Application. There are quite a few other fixes.
Anyone with a new G1 should wait for the update to judge their phone, or to think that anything is broken. It took 3 days for my phone to update.
Also, the update was to the build, not the Kernel version (I thought I was at APA27 because of my Kernel version, but my build was RC19). Since my phone is updated I'm not sure the build was listed there in RC19, but the build number is on the same page (Home >> Menu >> Settings >> About phone >> scroll down >> under Build) as the kernel version in RC33. There is also a "Check for updates" button now.

Fat Secret on the G1
Thanks. I just got the G1 today and I'm more excited the longer I play with it. There are many great little apps, and I look forward to making my own.
Another thread suggests that I just need to wait for my new phone to auto update:

Other research shows this issue affecting other apps as well.
For the technically minded: Apparently the G1 doesn't have an official "Check for updates" feature. There are some hacks, but the cautious answer is just to wait.
For reference: Your Android build number is home >> menu >> settings >> about phone >> scroll down. Under Kernel version there is a line reading something like:
android-build@apa27 #1
I'm on 27, I know that 30 came out in October (http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/11/google-fixes-an.html), and it seems that some people are on at least 33. Since my phone was just activated today, this all makes good sense, and the app will probably work once TMobile updates my phone.

Fat Secret on the G1
I'm not seeing it either. I've searched and scanned for calorie, counter, calorie counter, fat, fat secret, fatsecret and even tried case variations. I also just dug through the first few hundred most popular apps (new phone)... I'm dissappointed, tracking my food easily was one of the reasons I just got the G1. I hope it's just a glitch.
